    pulley doesn't fit!

So had to replace my alternator, but i got a little problem. My LW SS pulley doesn't fit on the new alternator, well it fits but when i tighten it down it will not turn (the pulley). The pulley that came on it spins fine. i've looked at both side by side and it looks like it should work. Any ideas?

you could try putting a thin flat washer behind the pulley in each bolt hole. a n washers for carbs are real thin. might help.

That is what I had to do on two out of three UR alt pulley installs.

you can use washers but then your belt may not line up, give it a try though.

same happened to my pulley. the INNER lip of the stock pulley longer, so it makes the pulley further away from the body of the alternator, thus no rubbing. My pulley's inner lip is SHORTER by a hair, so when you tighten the pulley down, it literally tightens ONTO the body of the alternator. Nothing a washer can't fix.

I'm confused by your post, what he said is true, and a washer will still work.
