anyone have a welding machine? commander general says i can't use one here.
I have an ARC welder 240v and a gas one that is out of gas & oxy. Both are probably older than you Gerard...! hahaha.
Ains, what do you need on your G to get her back on the road???

brian, i know a welding supply here in lawrenceville next to downtown that can probably refill those tanks. how much would it cost to fill the tanks and do whatever is needed to get it working again?
^^^ shoot, I have to bury them from the garage first. The biggest issue is all the little accessories that are packed away from the Cali - GA move. I wanted to start looking for them today, but too many little things came up. I'll have some time on Thurs/Friday to start looking again....keep ya posted.

awesome. i had a small list of things that required welding for the nova. the giant welding project is the floorpans, but i think that'll jsut be fiberglassed where the holes are since it's not going to be a pretty car, ever. i could use the welder for.... well shoot. i can't remember. oh, the roll cage... but, i don't think i wanna trust myself on that one. might be better off having a pro put in a basic 8 point.
Yes, you need a pro to do the rollcage.
I've been considering (for the past 10 yrs) a mig welder or wire feed welder. They seem to be the easiest to use. Find me a smokin' deal on one.....![]()

what about the $500 starter kits from sears? the craftsman ones are supposed to be similar to the hobarts, but only from what i hear though.
^^^^ yikes, looking to spend much less than that! I was thinking the little "hobby" ones from harbor freight. I remember my buddy had one in Cali and it worked very well for smaller jobs....![]()

yeah, HF has little $130 beginner ones. i definitely want to try one of those auto-dimming masks. when i last welded the hardest thing was aiming the gun through the goggles - i always started off center. it was a pita.

gotta hound the intarwebz for the 20% off coupons. that's how i got my compressor for $320.
wow...i missed a ton of shit.
Ains, maybe I can come over thursday. If I get off of work soon enough, I will do your oil change for you utilizing my mighty indian strength.
Brian + Max, yeah get some new mounts. We'll make a day of it, and I'll install 'em for you.
Gerard, lawl ducks.
and as far as the racecar goes, on top of all those expenses, i really don't think it would be good for all 4 of us to race at a single event. typical autocross event, each person gets 3 runs. so that's 12 runs of VERY hard on and off driving. If it were 12 consistent laps, that'd be something else...but the car as a whole takes a serious beating in general from all this. If we end up doing HPDE or some kinda TT events at bigger tracks, we'll just take turns. And if it's events for money, I think we can all agree that the fastest driver should tackle the event, and any proceeds should go straight back into the car, and if there is any surplus, we can divide it amongst the team evenly.
BTW, if you guys get in touch with P@ again, ask him if he can do a discount...cause I need to order up some mounts as well for the next G. Front and rear would be all I need. ATL discounts ftw.
i doubt i'll be driving much. i'm too fat. and im' allergic to japanese cars.![]()
thursday works. i'm taking good care of your boxesthat'd be great about the oil change, but no rush. i've gone long enough without driving the g, i don't want to take advantage of your ninjistics
see above. haven't done an oil change since june (6+ months) because i couldn't afford the oil. finally bought oil, but i'm not strong enough to get the filter on/off tightly enough. meh, oh well. so she sits.

we have several oil filter removal tools. both wrench, pliers, and cap sockets.
do you use dino or test tube oil?
I use to be pretty good at driving in my earlier days...hence, my buddies always let me drive their cars to 'win' a race. But i dunno anymore....hahah. Probably ronnie is the quickest i'd guess...?
oh ok, i can do the oil change 4 ya if ronnie can't...n/p.
....and you won't even have to 'owe me anything'.
....well, maybe just a little sumthin'....![]()
