    Wrong axle installed causing problem?

ok, originally had an LSD tranny in my non-touring G20, or so I thought by what was told to me, and what Infiniti tried to tell me when I when i was trying to get axles...got a new tranny about a year and a half ago, that was supposed to have been LSD, also took a few days longer for the company to find it, so they sent it to my mechanic, they installed it, but when I did my DET swap, i needed new axles....so i ordered a passenger side axle for an LSD tranny, my mechanic got the driver's side, because later on, it was discovered that I needed a driver's side as well, well after going on APG military base and working on my car, we put in on the lift, one wheel rotates, no bulge on the driver side of the tranny, when u turn one wheel in one direction, the other wheel turns the other way, meaning NO LSD TRANNY!!!!!......now my question is, if you have an LSD axle of the passenger side of the tranny, what will happen? will something bad happen? I am getting a click and knocking sound from the rigth side of the car that only occurs when the car is on the ground moving, not in the air on the lift while pressing the gas....i thought the driver's side was the only side that mattered when it came to axles and LSD/non-LSD?

You can put either an open-diff or VLSD axle on the car, but you must have the corresponding axle support bracket.

passenger side is different as well on LSD p10ts from what I understand... especially based on what steve (dragoneye) went through on his former p10t to get a proper passenger side axle that fit!

Yes, those are the symptoms that will occur with a wrong axle. However just because you spin one tire and they dont spin the same direction doesn't mean its not an LSD... well it does... but you have to lock it. That tire that spin, jerk on it quickly and if it is an LSD it should lock and THEN both your tires spin the same direction. Just do that to make sure

I can look up part numbers on this when I get home, but I believe the RH axle is the same on both LSD and non-LSD, although likely different from auto to manual trans. The link above is comparing a P-10 axle with an SE-R axle.

The LH side axles (driver's side in US) are def different LSD and non-LSD. You can most easily tell an LSD from a non-LSD trans by the size of the LH axle seal. The seal is like twice as big on the LSD trans (to cover the viscous hub) than the non-LSD. If you've got a trans with axle seals more-or-less the same size on both sides, you don't have an LSD trans.

The clicking described sounds to me more like a bad CV joint.

we changed the rear motor mount that needed replacing, but the knock rumbling, clicking noise, like lysander said, we think it's coming from the axle, there's no tear on it, the rubber is still in take, but we are gonna try and get an alxe from the junkyard maybe and see if the problem goes away, hopefully the military lets me back on base again tomorrow with no ID like they did today, 2 times in a row would be great, i like the nice MP's at the gate...

we just think maybe the axle broke on the inside, because we think it's bending /twisting while the wheels rotate, but only when its on the bround, no noise in the air, cant an axle be destroyed internally, with the rubber tearing?

my mechanic put it on a lift also, they gave the car gas, and he said he think it's the caliper, not the axle, like the caliper went bad and it's moving, from one side side, like the bolt, blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda, so basically he says, i need a new caliper, what do you think?

UPDATE: problem is fixed as far as I can confirm, i took the caliper off this morning, pulled the caliper pins, put them back in, made dure everything was tight and aligned properly, i also took the brake on the outside and put it on the inside, because it had the metal piece on it, and no more knocking noise, no banging or anything, i drove anbout 20 miles, nothing, i guess i'm lucky that it was only something minor
