    A quick shipping question...

A quick shipping question...what is the absolute cheapest way to ship an oversized package. I am trying to ship a large box to Cali and USPS quoted me almost $100.

    Ben

My experience is that FedEx/Kinkos runs nearly half of UPS - Give em a try!

This is for ground service just like UPS with excellent in transit delivery times
plus there are Kinkos all over the place.

Greyhoound is very good too assuming your buyer doens't mind picking them up
at a terminal if there is one near by

+1. Usps has some crazy calculations. They wanted $115 to ship a ww lip, but fedex/kinko's only wanted $17. Never gone back to usps again.

send it by the bus forsure the cheapiest way, freight truck would be the next lowest priced way, and with freight you get a tracking number so you know where its at.

I have used Greyhound package express for big bulky items that aren't terribly heavy for much cheaper.

For example, I just sold a truck grill (74" wide) and it would have cost $128 to ship UPS whereas Greyhound package express cost $68 for the same exact thing.

The thing about Greyhound is you have to drop off at a greyhound location and PICK UP at greyhound (it is not door-to-door service) and some buyers may get pissy about that.

I have also used Amtrak freight before for sending tires to Seattle WA and it ended up being cheaper than greyhound (probably because of easy train routes from chicago to seattle)

    A sticky of some sort?

Or general alert... Shipping can be a "make or break" factor for completing a deal or not.

Good options mean we all to continue to have a steady source of good- cheap parts

Forgot to mention that FedExKinko's was $61 for the same package. So for the same package shipped ground it goes like this:

    USPS $100
    FedEx $61
    Greyhound $38 ground/ $62 second day
    UPS ?
    DHL?
    Freight ?

Also, Greyhound offers a priority service which is like second day air. That service was 62.00 to Cali from Texas. I don't even want to think what USPS would have charged for the quicker method. I think the only remaining unknown would be UPS so I will PM Katie with my specs and see what she comes up with. I guess DHL would be another possibility. Never got freight quotes either. Does anyone want to chime in with a good freight service I could get a quote from?

Well, in the past I have shipped everything but the kitchen sink via USPS. This time I actually shipped a kitchen sink and they were way high.

    The dimensions are:

36"x20" on top and 24" deep.
    29 pounds.

Still got two more stainless steel undermount sinks for sale if anyone needs one(or two). PM me if anyone out there is interested.
