    Question 2.25" or 2.50" Header?

So I have been looking around for a header for my 02 Sport. I looked all around on ebay but I could only find a 2.25" collector header, and I have posted a thread before and everyone said go 2.50" for more "top end power?", but where can I found a 2.50" header?

    Thanks for any advice.

    Henry

There are really only two sizes of headers 2" or 2.5". No 2.25". It all in the way the measure it. The correct way to measure exhaust tubing is it's OUTSIDE daimeter. So the INSIDE diameter will always be smaller. How much depends on the wall thickness of tubing. Hence, you'll see some sellers list the headers they sell as 2.25". If they use a regular tape measure to measure it, that's the typical accuracny you'll get.

after a quick look i have found one for ya......ebay item....160271851347.....looks like it will be a little over 100$ shipped. the tape measure over the collector shows the size so......its 2.5 dont worry about fitment even though it stops at 96 for g20....all sr20de headers will work....some just take a little more work to make fit. pretty sure the ones i posted are the same i got......but like 50 more bucks that i paid so this is a goood price.

This is what i have on my P11

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/91-99...mZ230283196835

just be ready to mod the header you get, cuz non of the ones i seen are direct plug-n-play. but really worth the money and labor

Could you go into alittle detail of "mod" like is it worth it I work in a garage and know my shit but not very smart with the aftermarket stuff. And I can't have my ride down for awhile because this is my only ride and my girlfriend is 8 months pregnant.

the only thing i had to do with my header was move the 02 sensor down to the aiv port with the the STOCK HEADER 02 adapter...to prevent the fan from chopping the 02 wires. other than that no mods to it, it was p*N*p. CESARDRGN.....it looks like those you have are 2.25 collector from the pics.......the headers i posted the # to are 2.5

What would you recommend the 2.25" or the 2.50"?? Like all I have is a CAI but I plan to get the header then exhaust.

2.5 for sure. then find a nice 2.5 exhaust. the 2.5 one is cheaper too.

get a nice copper gasket cuz the one that comes with the header is really bad and can leak in no time. also you have to shave the downpipe were it meets the header cuz they don't come as flat as you think they would. I didn't do the intall on my, i had Mike and Chris do it for me since they are the pro's but i was looking at everything he was doing. If you have the tools and can do it at your shop then go for it. also talk to SHigSpeed to get the EGR gasket he sells otherwise you will have a nice leak going

+1 on the copper mid gasket. gotta have that....summit racing has um. Look around here for the part # cant recall off the top of the dome right now. for some reason i didnt need a shig adapter....maybe they fixed that problem. i dont have THE leak like i thought i might.

the 2.5" is really not necessary unless you have a full 2.5" exhaust....or some good cams. I essentially made 151whp with the SSAC 2" header into the stock cat AND stock exhaust system.

    just my 2 cents....

Mine was a tight fit and was kind of annoying to install, and I had to use two nonstandard nuts on the part that mates to the block. But I didn't have to modify it at all.

Summit Racing. They are perpetually backordered, but Brian (95g ATL) put in an order for 10, so you can jump the line by PayPaling him (and also save their bogus $10.95 "handling fee" -- I'd rather they not send the catalog and stickers that I'm just going to throw out anyway, and charge less).

You won't get as big a power gain, but you will still get one. Brian was running 2", BC Stage II cams, but stock exhaust when he dynoed at 151whp, IIRC.

I just ordered 10 of them from summit. they are backordered and "claim" they will have them in by early Sept. I'm not holding my breath. Here's a link to the thread that Chris started. She is out of them, that's why I ordered EXTRA. http://www.g20.net/forum/showthread.php?t=82385

Yup, I have many local Atlanta g20.net members as witnesses and the dyno to prove it.
