well your good then. i dont make speaker boxes or anything but i do know the guy who make all the boxes for the local shops. good guy, lives in south ogden and will make anything you want, for a good price.
ill install the shiz out of it man.
ps.
i am at a road block with leds right now, i have figured out replacing leds in the cruise control and dimmer switches will not work. i have tried. it comes down to getting a custom led base with a resistor built in.
IF ANYBODY KNOWS OF AN LED COMPANY, LMK. I WILL CALL THEM AND SEE IF THEY ARE WILLING TO DO A CUSTOM BUILD FOR A FEW OF THE P11'S LIGHTS. driver window, dimmer, cruise control, rear defrost, hazards.
Update: got an email back from the ebay seller. good news: he posted a pic of the rear of the 02 cluster. bad news: its covered with a plastic casing so we cant see much.
um i cant get the picture to post here, so just jump the link.
ebay 02 g20 instrument cluster
The sport cluster or 02 cluster is a one piece face plate. You can cut the face plate off and put on the 99s
I bought some 5W5 LED's off of ebay but they look too blue. They are supposed to be white.
I'm looking at superbrightled's web site, but not sure which 5W5's would give me a clean white look. I'm talking about the parking lights inside the P10 headlights.
Here are the options I found:
WLED-x
1 Wide Angle LED, 90 or 120 degree beam
Available in Cool White - 3 lumen @ 9900K Blue Green Red Amber
and
WLED-x4
4 x 3mm LEDs, 32 degree beam
Available in Cool White - 7 lumen @ 11600K Blue Green Red Amber
and
WLED-x5
1 High Flux LED & 4 x 3mm Radially Mounted LEDs, 220 degree beam
Available in Cool White - 12 lumen @ 8000K Natural White - 11 lumen @ 4500K Warm White - 10 lumen @ 3300K Blue Green Red Amber
Which would be more whiter?
is that the black piece on the back of the cluster? do you have to cut it out or can you just take it off via screws or clips or whatever?
without looking at the leds and just judging from the info you gave. take a look at ''x,xxxk'' number.
this 4500k is based off a temperature from the kelvin temperature scale.[ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelvin"]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelvin[/ame]
basically without too much detail, light output and color is based off of the temperature:
disreguard the writing on the right
this isnt the best example but basically you can see that different temperatures are different colors.
the leds that you are talking about are simulating that same kelvin scale and are compared to the same kelvin temperature of x,xxx k.
anywhere between 4500-6000k will get you a pretty good white output, the 6000 range will get you a blue tint to the white and the 4500k will get you white with a yellow tint.
most car manufactures use hid lights that are 4000-5500k, meaning the light will be a very strong white with a twinkle of yellow/blue/ from a distance.
to answer your question, go to superbrightleds.com and look for the led that says: ''cool white" or "warm white" cool will have yellow, cool will have blue.
hey! hey! hey!![]()
Jae, you mentioned that your blue festoon dome light was kinda purple-ish. I'm debating whether or not to buy the blue light or the cool white light. I want blue, but not purple. Could you take a picture of your light so I can see what it looks like?
When I have more time to type I'll let you know about my experience with www.v-leds.com
They've been great to work with, but I still haven't been able to find LEDs that work in my corners.
idk about the corners still but the dome light dilly is weird taking a picture of it doesnt do it justice, it looks really different. like my park lights look completely blue in a picture but in real life they are just a pure white.
i would do a cool white. blue doesnt give a good enough light output to light up the car when you get in and out.
oh man i forgot about those! i now have a project. i wonder what kind of bulb there is in there. hmmmmm....
yeah i do that too. leds get expensive fast. ill play with my car this saturday for sure, cuz im cleaning the inside for like 3 hours, she is durty!
Jae give me a call i pmed u my number i wanna do this to my cluster.
Jae, any update on the front corners/resistor situation? You get your rear corners in yet? I wanna see pics of the rear corner LEDs in tail lights that have been cleared of amber. I'm planning on clearing out my amber soon.
ok yeah sorry i havent done it yet, i want to say ive been really busy but its not that ive been busy. ive started a new job and its from 7am-4pm and im not a morning person and 7am is still dark outside and i feel like poo when i get home.
i promise ill get them in soon
