    JDM SR20DE in 93 G20 Question

Alright, Im sure this is a total noob question, but I wanted to check to make sure before I put the motor in the car.

Long story short, my brother's 93 slung a rod, he ordered a new motor, that apparently is out of a JDM Primera, I believe.

The Intake Manifold has none of the emissions equipment as a US car, and I'd rather run it in his car, as we don't have emissions in my area, as well as to simplify things under the hood.

My question, is the shop we got the motor from told me all I needed to do was swap the intake and exhaust manifolds and drop it in. I know the exhaust mani is different, but Im wondering if you guys think I should have any problems running the JDM intake?

The way I look at it, is that it would be the same as me removing all of the emissions equipment in my 240SX, and it runs fine. All of the connectors are the same on the manifold like the injectors and whatnot, I just want to know if anyone thinks I will run into any problems running the motor like that with the US harness and ECU.

I assume it may throw a constant check engine light, but I don't think it will be an issue, as well as anyone else I've talked to has told me they figure it will be fine, I just wanted a last opinion on it before I put it back in the car.

i did the JDM swap in my 92. I used the USDM manifolds and it went well. I was looking at installing the motor with the jdm manifolds, but when I though about it, I didn't think removing the egr system will give me any gains and I didn't want to risk having any codes.
But I don't think it would cause any issues if you tried it. I heard about putting a resistor in place so that the ECU thinks there is an EGR system.

    Thanks for the reply.

Alot of it, is there is so much vacuum shit on the US Intake, that I didnt want to replace half the old cracked hoses for him, ya know?

Im pretty sure it will be alright too, Im just wanting to know if anyone else has done the swap this way.

Im more so just worried about the car running right rather than it throwing a code. I realy dont want to have to swap the intake manifold with the motor in the car, haha.

Run it. I put a JDM SR20DE into my friend's sister's '94 P10 and left the JDM intake manifold on it with no problem. I did, however, swap the USDM exhaust manifold onto the JDM engine to utilize the stock P10 exhaust system as the JDM primary is much longer than the USDM and I did not have the secondary. I just welded up the EGR tube and used it as a plug. (theres no emissions where I live either.)

    Very nice.

The G20 is actually my brothers car, Im just doing the swap kind of as a favor for him. We decided to take a voyage to Tennessee to get some White Castle after watching Harold and Kumar, and ong story short, apparently motors with 225k dont like being topped out on I24, and it slung a rod, ha.

I used to have an NX2K a couple of years ago, but never really did any mods to it. I've been on the 240SX tip since about 05. Loved that car.

I'm actually in Braselton, about 10 minutes from Buford. Small world for sure.

And btw, Im petty sure I've seen your car around before.

did the jdm manifolds work? im about to install mine from my old jdm swap 3 cars ago. i used the usdm manifolds and threw the jdms in a box, but i want too clean up my engine bay a little and went and got the upper intake plenom media blasted and painted the lower recently. iv been reading up in my fsm and the issues i think are the egr and carbon canister control valve, which is controled by the ecu, and the PAIR system which is somekinda pulsed air injection INTO the exhaust during negative exhaust presures. it also has a control valve commanded by the ecu. i plan on swapping all electronics and throttle body from my usdm to my jdm intake and leave the PAIRC valve and egr bpt control valve pluged in but not hooked to any vacume. then i need to weld in a 02sensor bung to the down pipe. hate to bring up old issues but i plan on doin this this weekend and am just curious about experiences.
