Kenny's (thunder storm) 1999 G20 M/T P11 click image(s) to enlarge G20.net: How, when & why did you first acquire your Infiniti G20? Thunder storm: My dad tossed me the keys to the car when I came home with him back when I was 17, the rest is history. The car went from crap, to awesome! In just about 2yrs, and lots of blood, sweat and swearing later. click image(s) to enlarge G20.net: What were your original plans for the car and have they changed? Thunder storm: As much as it makes me ashamed, I wanted to rice it out at first. But that was before I started reading about how the engine works, and learned about everything (and then some) about what I needed to know on the engine. After that, body kits and ricer wings, just looked like crap to me. So I decided to turn the car into a drag racer, and toss all care about the body of the car to the wind. As long as it runs, I'm happy with it ![]() click image(s) to enlarge G20.net: What performance modifications have you made to your car? Thunder storm: just bolt on's for now. It's got: 3” Spectre CAI, '96 p10 plenum, '91 intake cam, MSD blaster 2 coil, 10.2mm spark wires, SSAC headers, 2.5” Magnaflow 10436 Resonator, 2.5” Cat back pipe, 3A Racing muffler, mishimoto b13/b14 radiator, nismo thermostat, mautai grounding kit, and a innovate wideband controlling the narrowband input for the '96 ecu. click image(s) to enlarge G20.net: Do you have any dyno numbers? Thunder storm: Not at the moment. But i'll be at the ums tuning dyno day, on the 17th. I'm hoping right now for 130whp, I wanted to have my turbo build finished by then, but my bills had other thoughts in mind . click image(s) to enlarge G20.net: What suspension modifications have you made to the car? Thunder storm: Aside from the GR-2's I found out that I had, nothin' other than superpro sway bar bushings, and front/rear Prothane motor mounts (engine suspension ) click image(s) to enlarge G20.net: Any cosmetic modifications to the exterior? Thunder storm: Just the $20 autozone fogs, the SR20DE badge on the back, the carbon fiber sport head light trim from ericdd, and the smoked tail light vinyl from “G”-sus. click image(s) to enlarge G20.net: How about the interior? Thunder storm: started work on painting the interior black, but stopped about ˝ way through the front parts, and kinda liked the way it looked. I've got the carbon fiber gauge trim from ericdd I also have a car-puter installed for my music storage/ consult interface, and wideband programing. ![]() click image(s) to enlarge G20.net: Have you made any upgrades to the stock sound system? Thunder storm: I have a Crunch, p1100.2 amp, 1 Farad capacitor, and 12x2 jensen subs. Also have a cheap vr3 target special head-unit. It gets the job done. click image(s) to enlarge G20.net: Any future modifications we should look out for? Thunder storm: TURBO BUILD!!! and possibly coilovers. click image(s) to enlarge G20.net: How and when did you first find G20.net? Thunder storm: I found it shortly after I got the car, and was trying to find out why it would buck when it was cold (turned out to be a bad fuel filter). I joined but didn't say anything due to past experiences on other forums of getting flamed for being 'the new guy'. But I was glad that I found this place, you guys are all awesome! click image(s) to enlarge G20.net: How has this site benefited you? Thunder storm: this place has helped me more ways than I can keep track of. From killing time, to getting good deals on stuff, to learing how to do things like manual swaps, and VE builds. I certainly wouldn't have had such a fine car without this forum! click image(s) to enlarge G20.net: Any last comments you would like to make? Thunder storm: I just want to thank everyone who has helped me and supported me. Especially my bro (P10 goodness) for helping me with my manual swap. Yahnoza for that awesome write up. The AZ G20's for all the awesome meets we've had. And anyone else who i'm forgetting who's been such great friends. click image(s) to enlarge
