350z buddy has no respect for the P10ve

I own a few cars and my love for the P10 is still STRONG. With that said, I always pamper my P10. My buddy with a modded 350z always question me why I spend so much time tinkering with the old GeeeeeeeZard. Im very modest, but when he made a comment saying that his 350 will annihilate the Ve, I was a bit defensive.
I said, "Yes you will probably destroy me but remember that your car came with stock V6 287 hp and 274 tq and the ve is stock 4 banger 187 hp and 145 tq. plus my p10 is heavy". I left it as that....

My intention is not to entertain the challenge but whats your prediction from a roll to 80 mph? I think it would be a close one but i know top end the 350 becomes SCary

91 p10 VE

Ive got an 04 350z with a manual trans...honestly, its not that fast. Its quick but nothing like wow. His has minor mods which of course helps out but I am pretty sure your ve would be right on him. I raced my buddy with his 200sx ser with a de with an intake, header and dp and a timing advance and he had a 1/4 time right behind me.

the 350 z is heavy and typicly the make 230 whp stock i haven seen much more from a 350z with intak and exhuast.

the vq 35 has lot more tQ than any ve i have ever seen.
if you are trying to race him your best bet is with slicks and from a stnd still. or really sticky tires.

you should get your friend to go on a auto x are road race to compare the cars and their drivers.

just the other day i saw in person a 350 Z with freshly bult broken in engine and twin turbo's put down 580whp on pump gas not sure how much higher it would go with more boost . I have never seen an sr engine come close to them #'s on pump gas

+1. who gives a shit about straight lines?

i'd also compare the amount of money spent on each car.

did you explain to him that his is new and yours is over 15 years old and it's still kicking ass? in 15+ years, the z would need a new motor and will be like todays honda civic.

It should be close. Close enough he'll probably be embarrassed. I ran a revup G35 at the 1/8 a couple of weeks ago, I got him on the r/t, he pulled ahead before the 60ft about a car. I reeled him in at the end of the track. That pass was either a 9.3 or 9.4 I'm not too sure, I had about 20 runs that night. lol I love the track.

Also "dreamed" I ran an 03' 350z(I/tp/E) and 04' RS TypeSI/RH/E kpro), 'twas a good run. RSx pulled two cars up top, 350z was on my back door till he missed his 4th.

I hate kpro.

SR20VE G20 1.6 non-n1 cams, i/h/e flywheel + misc stuff. I have a thread on here with my dyno and mods.

Either he will understand why you love the P10, or he won't. It isn't something that can be explained to those types of people. If all he cares about is how fast it is...well even the 350z isn't super fast, but I doubt you can convince him otherwise.

Done deal......

Well in my books doing a 0- 60 mph in 5.4 seconds is pretty quick and we are talking stock. On the other hand if you have ever driven/own a STI,EVO, 335i then the 350z will def feel like a slug.

My p10 is less than 10k miles away from 300k. So im pleased with the results.

As expected the VQ has great top end power. There is no point beyond 80 to keep going with the VE and this is with a Se-r Tranny. V6 kicks in and walks away.

Do a search on Youtube.

but also remember that you'll smoke him on MPG's & BPG's seeing since you can sit more honeys in a p10 than in a 350z.
