hehe...i'll bet that subject got your attention...down on the strip earlier tonight...

1st GT-R sighting... old-generation ford escort, completely riced out, GT-R badges on grill and and quarter panels...as he rolls by in the opposite lane, i say "hey...thats not a GT-R..." his response "yeah, and that ain't no damn mustang!" (?????????????????????????????????????????????????) i guess he doesnt even know what the badges come from, i guess i should have said "thats not a nissan" what confuses me more is that he accused me of trying to pass as a mustang with a P10...HUH?

2nd GT-R sighting... Blue R34 with Veilside...just kidding...2000ish bright red mustang brandishing GT-R badges on either side...he was one lane over, and yelling over the plethora of sound systems was useless...i couldn't contest his claims.

along with a countless ocean of late 80's early 90's Type R accords...

sigh

heh, REAL GT-R sighting

There's some R33 Skyline GT-R here in Chula Vista....

My friend and I were going down past the local community college to go pick up his sister. At a stoplight, we hear the roar of what I presumed to be some ricey wannabe racer. My friend is quick to point: "it's a f***ing GT-R!!!" Huh what? I glance, no, it couldn't be. It was some Nissan that was tricked out to LOOK like a GT-R, because sure enough, it had Skyline lights as it squealed into a nearby shopping plaza. Still, I was convinced it was a Maxima or something, owned by some well-funded poser. "That was a GT-R!" No it wasn't, I claim. I demand he turn around so we can find it. Blah, we have to go pick up his sister first...but on the way home....

We roll into the shopping plaza, hoping to find it still parked there in front of Hollywood Video or something, but it was nowhere to be found. "It's not here man..." Wait, check over there in that Valvoline Instant Oil Change place. We roll over, and sure enough, there's the silver Nissan, sitting there with its hood propped open, RB26DETT and all. And to prove it was a real GT-R , it was right hand drive, and even the chassis plate had BCNR33 emblazoned on it. The owner and us talked about his car (got it from Motorex, blah blah blah) and as we did, a ricey Mitsubishi Eclipse pulled up, revving and setting off his blow-off as he went. But upon seeing the GT-R badge over an actual Skyline body, he immediately shut his car off in reverence and awe. "Yeah, it's real." :rambo:

Blah...what about Pontiac's show car "Vibe GT-R." Gawd, I was so pissed over that one. Sport Compact Car did a whole column about the stupidity over at Pontiac. Super Street on the other hand, gave it props and saw it as the future of body kits or something. Jeez. Just proves that I subscribed to the right magazine.

heheh... Skylines are sweet... even the non GT-R models rule. =) Gotta love having the Nissan Testing Grounds close to where you live. Silvias are sweet too... too bad they are harder to get than Skylines.

This Navy guy in my automotive class was telling me how some of the Navy guys take RB26 parts and try to smuggle them in the country; heh, they take crankshafts and pistons and try to pass them off as household goods. "What? Nah man, this is for a blender." Then they rebuild the engines over here. My question is; if that's what's being done, where are these motors now?

Oxnard? Actually I'd understand if they have a GT-R there.

Number one, that's the port of entry for military personnel-owned vehicles. If you're in the military and you come in from overseas, that's where you pick up your car. My dad picked up his huge-ass van from Germany there, and I'm sure a Navy guy once stationed in Japan would be able to pick up his personal Skyline GT-R if he had the money.

Number two, Gardena is nearby. Kinda. And what's in Gardena? Motorex. If I were you, I'd go pay them a visit and see if they can get you a Skyline, even if it's just a GTS for like, $20,000 or so for a nice one. I mean, why not? Skyline GTS or Altima? hmm decisions decisions.

I see a lot of GTR emblems out here in Nor Cal. For god sake my friend had one on his Maxima before he sold it. It was funny because people would come up to him and ask if it was a real SKyline. But the worst GTR crime I have ever seen had to be a Jag XJ8 with a GTR emblem on the back! What kind of stupid ass puts a GTR emblem on a Jag...

The P10 and P11 won't hold an RB26DETT. Trust us on this one. You won't get it in there for a million and one reasons, and by the time you do force it in there, you'll have spent enough money to buy a real GT-R and some nice mods too. So in plain english: HELL NO WTF ARE YOU THINKING. GT-R BADGES ON A P10/P11 GOOD LORD. :smoke:

Avoid the Skyline GT-R badges man. Get the real thing, or else you'll just end up looking like another ricey Honda.

Well first of all, I'd like to know who told you that you can jam an RB26DETT in an P10/P11. Anything is possible with enough $$$, but here, check this out:

1) the RB26DETT is RWD, longintudal mounted. So unless you start on some body work and have waaay too much time, you're not gonna do it anytime soon. RWDs aren't exactly easy to drop into FF cars, because damn; if they were, we'd all have SR20DETs from Silvias in our cars.

2) the engine is long. Without asking you to search the forum for more information, let's just sum it up: it's not gonna fit in the car. It's too long and it just won't fit unless you get a super wide body or something.

3) the car won't handle the power. The tranny can't mount on it. the car won't be balanced for it. the car is not meant to hold it. etcetera...

If you've still got that $8000, why not put the RB26DETT into an S30 280Z. That'd be WAAAAY cheaper and easier to do, and it's a much better car than the P10/P11 anyways.

So... What about GT-R badges on a turbo'd P11 GT? Surely that the next logical step, it is a nissan. In fact, it is a nissan GT. Would that still be ricey? I don't think so, though I suppose GTS badges would be more fitting as there is only the single turbo.

I'd tolerate a GTiR badge, since the Pulsar GTiR had a SR20DET in it, but a straight-up GT-R badge doesn't belong on ANY car, except the Skyline. Period.

But the GTiR badge isn't a logical progression.
Step up the Sunny GTi, You get the GTiR.
If the Primera was a GTi, Then adding the R to make GTiR would make sense, but it's a GT, doesn't it make sense to add the R to the GT, and get GTR?

Not that I'd do it, The GT-Rs are hallowed items and should be treated with reverence, not cheapened by stealing the markings of a truly great machine, but surely, If any modded car deserved the GT-R badge, wouldn't it be the Primera GT?

Plus the fact the GTiR badges would only match the typeface of the P10 primera badges......

Hmm, hadn't thought of that. So why not just put a "T" on the GT, if you really wanna flaunt that you have a turbo. I dunno, I'm running out of ideas. Do you really need to flaunt the turbo anyways? A huge ass intercooler in your front bumper is all the badging you need.

Like I said, I wouldn't do it. But i don't think it would be a bad thing on a GT.

Wouldn't mind doing a GTiR engine swap and having "Powered by Pulsar" painted on the sideskirts. A subtle, complementary paint, like dark grey on a silver car. Nothing garish. I think that'd look pretty smart.
