I was on Edmonds.com reading them totally diss our cars engine, and they stated.... "This Infiniti has a four-cylinder DOHC motor that makes 140 horsepower and 132 foot-pounds of torque; by far the lowest of any vehicle we tested. (they are speaking of the audi A4 and the Ford Contur SVT) We praised this engine when we first experienced it in the 200SX SE-R, but the power deficit felt insurmountable for whoever was following in the G20 during this comparo" and this made me wonder... did Infiniti do something different to give the vehicle less ass? Or is it just that our cars weigh more? Does anyone know for shure? :monkey:

It's the extra weight and the 99 that they tested also has lower gear ratios than the 200sx and earlier G20's. The ratios were changed a little after 99 to address some of the pokey acceleration numbers.

Sorry guys but they are correct. In 91 the SR20DE was an incredible overachiever and the cars it was installed in were much lighter weight.

In 95 it was still a pretty impressive engine in some fairly light weight cars.

When the P11 came out, Nissan really should have installed the SR20VE. The extra 50bhp would have made a big difference and was quite frankly necessary.

While the SR20DE is still an impressive engine, the B11 is a very heavy car for its 140bhp and later 145 bhp.

I'm sorry. They are correct. Shoot, the P10 is a completely different car with the SR20DET. It transforms it.

I couldn't agree with you more. However I get the strangest looks when I tell people I bought the car for the motor but I would not buy it if I was going to keep it stock. After seeing the SCC article with Searl's 292whp (at the time) 200sx I knew I wanted an SR20 powered car. I like the looks of the P11 better than the B14 and I also knew the potential of the SR20.

If I was to buy a car and keep it stock I would not have bought a 99 G20. :-\

Hell even with my full bolt-on G it's driving pretty good. I'm still not happy with it, but it should have come with this much balls off the lot. I only have 25 or so more hp and it makes a nice difference.

It is a very rare occasion to be able to correct the King Turd when he makes an erroneous statement or typing error, because it rarely happens. But it does happen every so often.:p

Geo, I believe you were referring to the P11 and not the B11. Wans't there a B-11 Bomber? That would have been a helluva lot heavier than the P10, but they weren't powered by the SR20.

Wouldn't it be quite a testament to Nissan if B-11s (or whatever) were actually powered by SR20s?

Hey G-forces just had a look at your car spec and i see you want the GTi-r lump, did nissan sell the sunny/pulsar GTI-r in the u.s?Why only 230-250 bhp here in the uk people are getting 400-500 bhp out of that engine with no probs at all.So go the whole hog and have the most powerful "G" in the world.

Unfortunately, the only Pulsars we saw stateside were some VERY forgettable FWD runabouts in the early 80's.

The ones you refer to are the nice Group A homologation specials. Then again, we never got the Lancia Delta Integrale, the Escort Cosworth, the Mitsu EVO's or the original WRX, either!

No, I only want the turbo manifold and the turbo. I'll be putting it on my current DE motor. As for having the most powerful G20 there's a little thing called money. ;) I think 240-50whp will be enough so that I won't be embarassed going up against most cars. Not to mention I'd rather save up for a 350Z, for real. :)

Hey G-Forces, why are you deciding to turbo your current engine instead of getting a DET, Are there some Pros and cons to both ways to go about obtaining turbo?

My current motor. To answer your other question you'll have to go and do some reading in the engine section. This was talked about yesterday by geo.
