I remember quite a long time ago, when I used to own
my old P10 G20 there was a bit of talk about upgrading
to 300zx TT brakes on the P10. It involved upgrading
the hubs, etc to 5 lug and then milling down the rotors, etc.

As chance might have it, I have my old baby,
a 93 Nissan Maxima SE sitting in my driveway, totalled and gone.

I'm in the market for a 5 speed P10, preferably with LSD
and i was considering doing the entire brake swap.

COnsidering i have the maxima, which is 5 lug... and i've
heard somewhere that you need to modify the maxima stuffs
to fit... and I have a 300zx big brake kit for a maxima sitting
around... i would think it be pretty cool to do that to my car.

If i rmember correctly didnt clark from JWT do this to his G?

Well, as soon as i buy my G, I'll have to do it for sure, but until
then, I just wanted to gather some info.. thanks!

Screw swaping the 5 lug over. Just drill out the rotor for 4 lugs. That way you don't have to buy new wheels. Much cheaper and easier. Of course if you can get the Max hubs to fit easily it might just be worth it.

Yes he did. Al Abadilla didn't convert to 5 lug, but he adapted the 300ZX brakes to his P10 (had to redrill the rotors and have the diamter reduced).

It's somewhat of a PITA. It would be cheaper and easier for most folks to do a BABK conversion. But then again, you already have the 300ZX brakes.

not only do i already have the brakes, they're milled
down already and everything... I dunno, i was searching
around the se-r list and it seems like it would be a fun project

i do know the fronts are pretty easy to do.

the only thing that concerns is that if i swap the hubs over,
won't the driveaxle splines be different?

btw, my old car was a 93 Maxima SE - VE30DE with LSD

just some stuff i thought about...

BIG ASS BRAKE KIT

It's a combination of SMC and KVR brake products. Or was at one time when they did the upgrade.

Now I think it's used as a general term for a bigger brake kit, specifically one that's really big. ;)

I believe BABK was coined by my buddy Jared Holstein. I've always loved that designation.

NOT TO BE A BURDEN ON THE SUBJECT BUT i NEED TO KNOW EXACTLY HOW MUCH THE 28MM 300ZX BRAKES NEED TO BE MILLED. HOW MUCH DO I HAVE TO TAKE TAKE OFF THE ROTORS. DO I MILL THE WHOLE THING TO MAKE IT THINNER OR WHAT?

Hi Prim P10,

Search for BABK and [email protected] post, he tells you exactly how much to reduce the diameter of the disk to avoid having the disk grind the inner part of the caliper bridge.

:stare: Did EvilYak say that he was in the market for a p10: meaning that he is looking at buyin a p10? I'm considering selling mine, but I don't have the LSD tranny. Well I did, but at that time, I didn't have this website to help me find out what axles to use, so the mechanic just gave me a non-lsd one.
