Okay so here is what is going on... I was driving my ex girlfriend home last night and she told me that the brake light as well as the battery light just turned on, so i made sure the ebrake was completely down and it was. We get to her house and I drop her off and get back into the car. It started right up with no problem so I drove home. After a bit of driving i begin the realize the dash lights were beginning to get dimmer as i am driving. Then as i turn onto my street the ABS light pops on. I get into my driveway and put the car in park and then the revs begin to increase abnormally to a little over 1 which never happens. So the brake, ABS, and battery light is on and i turn off the car. I am somewhat sure that all this is happening because of a dead battery but I just want to make sure that the battery is the only thing that caused all this to happen.

the likely source is that your alternator has failed. could be the battery also, but the alternator is probably just kicked. the brake light always comes on also with the alternator failure, and the abs light probably came on due to the low voltage

You can try charging the battery but 99.999999% the alternator is gonna die mad soon.

Alright so I go to work this morning and as i am on my way my car begin to basically turn itself off little by little. The airbag lights begins to constantly flash, as well as the overdrive. My radio turns off and again the dash lights are extremely dim. I make it work okay and turn off the car. Seconds later the car doesnt start whatsoever so i got out and by a brand new battery. Pop in and the car starts right up, but the brake light and the battery light are still on. I am on my way home and i decide the drive the car hard just to make sure everything feels the same. I get the revs past 5 and the battery light and the brake light turn off. When they turn off i take my foot off the gas and the lights come right back on as the revs decrease. So i try it again and this time after the lights go off i still give the car gas and they stay off but then once i let go they come right back on. So after that i am almost sure that the alternator has indeed gone its way out but i am not definite.

yes they can test it. but its a waste of time. just change the alternator. search the forum. you will find countless posts about "brake and battery light". you can do it yourself. its not that hard.

The only thing is i cant find an alternator let alone have the cash by tomorrow. Autozone said i they would have to order it and its $180, and ill be damned if i am gonna by if from a dealership. And my battery was tested and it was dead so i needed one anyway. What the worse that could happen if i continue to drive it besides just cuttin off at random within the next couple of days.

It's definately the alternator. You should not have bough that battery....
You can also get it repaired, maybe for less, but better buy a rebuilt one. Don't drive the car as it is now.

your alt took a shit, i've had to replace mine also, they're not terrible to replace by yourself, and only took me an hour to do. hardest part is removing the bracket that holds it to the engine (theres a stubborn 10mm or 12mm i don't remember which) that you have to get after you get the a/c compressor loose and out of the way, you'll need to pull the alt and bracket out as a whole assembly since its almost impossible to get the alt out w/o the bracket. just don't be an idiot like i was and forget to plug the harness back in afterwards.

sentra 2.0 alternator will work but its the same part number, unless you get a b15 (2000+ i think) which are usually a little harder to source (i waited several weeks for one on backorder from napa)

*edit* the b13 and p10 alternators usually have the same part number, not the p11 and b15

Yep its def. the alt. I found one at a carquest which has it in stock. So i guess i did waste my money on the new battery. I could have just charged up the old one correct?? Hopefully batteries plus will take it back if I tell them I want to return it. How hard is it to change out an alt?
