My first guess would be that your CD's are inserted upside down in the CD changer's
individual trays(I assume you have a 6-disc CD changer hooked up to your OEM head unit). I made that mistake a few times, too. Just look closely at the CD changer magazine; it shows which side the discs should be up and which should be down(if I remember well - they are kinda counter-intuitive)
Now if the CD's are inserted correctly and it still doesn't play - then it's either the changer or the connection.
When you press "CHNGR" on the HU - can you hear the changer working?
You could also test if the HU is "talking" to the changer - just press the "Up arrow"
or "Down arrow" buttons to the right of the display on the HU to see if you can select
another CD in the changer.
Let us know how it worked!

What about other HU functionality? AM/FM, cassette and/or single-CD
player? Do those work OK?
(if the radio/cassette/single-CD works - then it's the changer or
connection/harness in between the HU and the changer)

What does the HU display say? Any error codes? Has it ever worked?
(you say you have stock HU, but is the changer stock, too?
Does it say Infiniti or Clarion[who made the changer for Infiniti]?)

Are you using regular music CD's, or CD-R's?
(CD-R's don't usually work well on pre-2000 CD players)

What happens when you press the UP ARROW/DOWN ARROW buttons
to the right of the HU display? Can you hear the changer switch discs?
(if yes - then you're sending commands to the changer, but are not
getting the sound back. You might need to find a car-audio shop
specializing in Clarion. I wouldn't go to the dealer on account of cost)

If the changer receives signals from the HU and changes discs
but sends no sound to the HU and speakers - then I think
it's got to be the harness/cable between the changer and the HU.

I would try to locate a car audio shop that specializes in Clarion
and/or Bose(or if worse comes to worst - an Infiniti dealer) and
get them to troubleshoot for you.

Does anybody else have any other ideas?
