My clutch pedal touches the carpet and I am wondering how far should the clutch pedal be able to be depressed before it stops. Do I need to adjust the height or is it supposed to be like that?

there are some adjustment screws on the clutch pedal that will limit travel, they are hooked up to some switches and stuff, look for them under the dash near the pivot point on the clutch.

But is there a normal height where it should stop at that I should be aiming for? Like an inch or two off the floor?

According to my 91 FSM, the face of the clutch pedal should be 6.26-6.67" from the floorboard. That's adjusted with the pedal stopper or A.S.C.D. switch.
