Coming back to the game: p11 Questions

Hello all,

I joined back in '10 when I purchased my first 5spd g20t. It was a phenomenal car but I had to sell it 2 years later at 330k (kms) due to my need to leave the country for work. I have been missing the car ever since and now that I am back (Canada), I am on my hunt for a G again.

I found a 2000 G20t, AUTO with 230k kms but I am unsure about the reliability of the p11 tranny. I've tried searching on here but most problems seems to be more related to the p10s and I couldn't find any solid info about the p11. What do you guys think? The car is clean in and out, but I couldn't get much in terms of service history because it was a trade-in from a new car dealership. I test drove it and there were no warning lights and everything drove like it should. I didn't notice any irregular shifting and things seems to be smooth as usual.

Any inputs or advice is welcomed and hopefully, I will see myself back in a G!

Welcome back. Where did you go anyways?

Auto p11 trans are normally great, just as long as you don't turbo or beat the snot out of it. Since its a used car just make sure there's no leaks, no jerking between up shifts on heavy accel, try to get a "5 yrs" extended warranty
if you have a boat, trade it for that g20...mine is almost the same kms....theres another one for sale for a little cheaper..
Thanks for the reply guys, I ended up buying it. I will now welcome myself back to the forums haha. I was in Vancouver leaving for work in Ontario, so technically, I left the province, not Country- my bad. The only thing wrong was the code for knock sensor, but I heard that could be a bunch of things and not the knock sensor itself?

Congrats on the purchase. Just picked up my P11 and I have the same knock sensor code. I scooped a MAF from a local junkyard that I'm going to clean and swap. Hopefully that will fix SES light issue. I'll keep you posted.
congrats....looks good...not a lot of p11 here in the lower mainland...

Haha, yeah what are the chances of me being a two time owner of such a vehicle? Are you from Vancouver as well?
Oh, and I noticed something weird today. At first, I thought it was an alignment issue but I think it might be more serious than that... Let me explain:

Normally, when you drive, your steering wheel tend to stay in the center position ... aka having a leveled infiniti logo facing you. Even when you have a bad alignment, the wheel should stay in the center even if your car is pulling one side or another.

My car on the other hand, likes to have its steering wheel tilted to the right (with my hands off the wheel, driving on even pavement)... about 10 degrees or so? but it drives straight at this angle.

On a closer inspection, i noticed the column that covers the steering wheel (between steering wheel and speedo) is actually not straight. The plastic is angled to the right! I am going to try and get some pictures to you guys so you will have a better idea. I just couldn't believe I didn't see it when I was driving it earlier.

Any thoughts?
