anyone. i dropped a bolt down the timing chain guide and popped a piece of metal off that looks like a gear tooth.

Attempting to remove the crank gear (to change it out with a new one, new timing chain and guides). The oil pump spacer is slightly out of line and doesn't line up perfectly with the key on the end of the crankshaft. Off by maybe 2mm.
Why would this spacer be slightly out of line and not be directly in line with the key? Is this normal? What is the normal way to go about getting the spacer and crank gear off?

UPDATE: I was able to remove the oil pump spacer by prying on it from behind, against the crank gear, in order to push it into line to line up with the key, and it slid right off.
