I have a 7 dollar timing light which works wonderfully.

What are you all doing to ensure that you are setting your rpm right?

Do you use the factory gauge and call it a day?

Thanks

Several have said the tach on the car is not accurate at all. You can get a tach gauge for 10-15 bucks at pepboys I think. The other option is to get a timing gun with a tach built in, but they are about 100 bucks.

Thanks. I mean is it a tach thats just used for troubleshooting? Does the tach get removed when done? I don't want to leave it in the car all the time.

not sure if it will work on my 94, I guess it would?

wondering about the software and where I'd get it though...

Does the camsult software work with that cable?

The 94 is OBDII so I'm not sure if they use the same Consult port. If it does, that CalumSult software is available from this website:

http://web.utk.edu/~cjohns32/calumsult/

There's also another package called TECU that allows you to do timing, A/F, and IAC adjustment on the fly, as well as turn off individual injectors and the fuel pump. It's free too. Sweet!

I know you have this problem solved already but I figure I'd chime in anyway.

The consult port is the same from obdI-obdII. I used the same style interface box and calumsult on my 95 obdII p10 and my friends 91 obdI b13 this weekend with no problems.

Thanks for all this. BTW, you are right on the tach. Wish I didn't waste my money to determine its accuracy.

Oh well, I can use it on my beater car now.

Which one did you buy before ??

I couldn't use that one with my carpc as it's too bulky and I couldn't leave it plugged in.
