Hey Guys!
I am planning on buying a used sr20de from a 2000 G20 and putting it in my 99t. Most likely going to rebuild the motor prior to installing it in my g. What, if any, are some issues or problems I might run into? The FSM, from what I recall doesn't indicate a difference in heads. A few folks mentioned that the 99 sr20de is lowport and the 00 is high port. If that's the case will i need to swap ecm's?? Any wisdom or suggestions would help alot!!

valve cover and cams are different .. roller rocker cams inside the head for 2000 thru 2002

im not expert but ... both 99 and 2000 are lowport, but the 2000 is a roller rocker, there will be lots of wiring differences, it would be much much easier to swap a 99 motor in if you can make it happen

I already told him the connectors are different (so if you wanted to get a 2000 engine harness and ECU to match, go for it!)

also the transmissions are slitely different
shift linkages plus mounting are the main differences

People have swapped roller rocker DEs into cars with lowports without changing anything with the wiring or transmission. Just transfer sensors and the current transmission over from the old motor to the new one and you should be fine.

I'm assuming you're joking, but if you're not, there are lots of electrical issues with that swap. Just get a regular VE and put 20V cams in...

even if it did....the trans would still work....everythin is basically in the same place....ANY trans from ANY year ,,,will work with ANY sr20 (except RWD)

yea it will but some part dont go together, like shift linkage for a 99 wont work with a 00' and i read that they have one different mounting

not sure about that...but i cant see it being differnt....i mean. both 99 & 00 are the same body of a car...just different headsetups on the engeine.....

i have a 99 LSD trans in my p10, & everything was basically a direct swap (except i converted it from a hydro setup to cable)

found the thread that stated the difference. basically its like thsi the shift linkage on The 99 mounts to the rear motor mount bracket while the 00-02 mounts to the bracket on the actual transmission

In addition to the previously stated differences, there are many year-to-year differences between SR20 automatics that make a lot of swaps incompatible.

Wait... are you going for a RR DE, or a VE? Because you said you were getting a RR DE, but VVL is only available on the VE.

Let me clarify. I originally wanted to swap a 2000 sr20de into my 1999 g20t. I found an engine with 100000miles on it local for 300$. I was gonna buy it and rebuild it to swap into my g. After researching a bit I think Im leaning towards a VE, or a hybrid setup(ie. DE block w/ a VE head) with secondary management of the vvl outside of my current ecu. THIS Forum is like the friggin matrix when he uploads the shit directly into his head!!!!
