Help. Hood will not open

I can't open my hood since I worked on my car. I was working on my CV joints and had to jack the car up in the front to get more acces underneath. When I got done and tried to open the hood, it won't open.

The cable under the driver side dash pulls all the way out , but the hood is not popping up for me to get my finger underneath. I used a screwdriver to flip the little finger latch, but it's still not opening.

Does anyone have a method to open it? I can't drive the vehicle, because it needs transmission fluid. Aye caramba!

Does it feel like its releasing when you pull on the latch? Could be just not popping up when you pull it. See if someone can pull it up for you while pulling the release. Or even jiggling it up and down while pulling on it.

This is wat mine does. As long as someone pulls up its fine.

Yup try that. When it opens, clean up the latch assembly and oil it. Build up of grease and grime will cause release issues.
Worked! I jammed the hood release with a bar. Car is up and running. Will clean up the hood latch this weekend. I will drive around with the bar for now. Thanks for the replies.
a trick i learned somewhere along the way: when a hood latch wont pop, hold the latch with your other hand give the hood a pound with your other hand. not hard enough to dent it but enough to jostle the front latch.

I had someone push down on the hood when I pulled the release handle inside the car and it worked. I lubricated the latch mechanism and keep it lubricated and it never happened again. That was ten years ago.

+1 to that. Has worked every time I've ever had that happen.
