A few of us in the Uk have been looking at turbo upgrades, and since JAE where Kev made us phenomenally jealous, we've been looking at it with renewed vigour (that's pretty good for this time of night).

We're getting quoted crazy prices, so I was wondering how much you face out in the states/canada to have to have the work done.

Also, It most likely that the GTiR engine will be the one used, so, resistors on the injectors, the old flywheel, what else needs to be modified?

I have yet to see any GTI-R's in canada but there are alot of BB's.

I have seen complete engines from $700 - 1500 canadian. or 300 - 650 British Pounds. But it all depends on what you want 'you get what you pay for'.

Im not sure what other mods you will need to get the GTI-R into the primera but I do know there are some things that are too drastic turning people off besides the point that the BB and N/A SR20 internal and external parts are interchangeble.

At the end of the day its your choice. But consider this is the extra price for the stock GTI-R engine worth the 26hp? Plus you will pay outta your @$$ for parts when it breaks down? In the long run its really not worth it. You could mod the BB for the difference in the price between the motors and attain the same hp if not go faster:lol:

The GTiR engine is more likely to crop up than the BB det over here, which is why I was after info on that.

So, deoes anybody else know what's needed?

Your best bet is to log on to the SR20DE Forum.

There are a bunch of folks there who would know. I could proabably put you in touch with a friend who put one in his SE-R.

GTA_G20: The GTi-R was sold in Great Britain, so they won't have the difficulty getting parts that we do here. They don't have the ready access to the BB DET that we do.

Rich, ill see if i can get that number of the guys that supplied the engine for the P10 GTiR. £1500 for the full front end isnt too shabby. If youre seriously wanting to do it. This is the best way i know of.

Oh dont forget, im selling my turbo setup if anyone in the UK wants it.

Thanks Kev, that would be really helpful.

Geo/GTA

I've searched the sr20forums a whole load of times, I never ask a question if I haven't already searched for an answer.

What I was after was the definitive list so I could go to a nissan tuner and say "this is what needs to be done, can you do it?"

In the UK primera owners face an uphill struggle to get taken seriously. Most of the companies aren't interested.

We've had comments such as "we don't do anything for primera's as they are not a performance car" coming from people who make things for civics, MX5s, toyota Yaris, (Vitz I think you call it) VW golfs and tiny euro hatches. That's pretty offensive.

We've also had a GTiR specialist say when asked about the turbo swap "Why would you bother? primera's don't get a second look, 7 grand minimum and it'll take 3 months"
These people were supposed to be specialists in tuning japanese cars.

I'd love to do the swap myself, but truthfully I don't have the necessary equipment or experience. Most likely I would use the GTiR ECU and wiring harness, which should solve some of the problems. Thanks for the input and, geo, if your friend with the GTiR/SE-R can offer any advise it would be appreciated.
