Hi Guys,

I've got a 1995 Primera SRi 1600cc 16valve UK model and I've just been on www.G20style.com (or something like that) and Ive seen loads of luscious tricked up primera with meshed grills.
How do you mesh the existing grill on this mean motor?
Mine is the model where the bonnet is seperate to the grill (unlike the later models from '96 onwards, me thinks...).
I've been told that some modifiers of other cars (novas, escorts, fiesta) just cut the grill up and mesh and respray it. I'm a bit scared at the prospect of cutting up my grill and bodging it!
I suppose buying a secondhand grill, meshing it and respraying it will be the best option (and the safest) but how do I attach the mesh to the rear side of the grill and how do i make it look pro?
I've seen a few cars such as vauxhall Cavs and Ford Sierras with meshed grill that look sweet. A lot of people say its the easiest mod to do to spruce you motor up but I'm not convinced. Help!

Plus, How do you fit a Subaru Impreza WRX bonnet vent to a Primera bonnet and where do you place it. I suppose buying a secondhand bonnet is also a safe way of not ruining your existing bonnet. Does it just go anywhere or do you have to place it specifically above the cam cover or induction kit (which I will be aquiring soon - a Pipercross Induction kit costs just £69.95 which, in my limited and humble opinion, is well good value!)?

Come on guys, share the knowledge and help a brother out!

Cheers

Hey there, and welcome to G20.net (Woo! got there first!) while I've got your attention, sign up on www.nissanprimera.net.

Most of the grills I've seen are stuck in front of the existing grill coverind where it splits. That excludes the G20 ones where the wholee grill is one piece. Have a look at Kev Shek's site ( www.p11-gt.co.uk ) and you should be be able to see what I mean. Sorry Kev, gotta stop pimpin' your site. The part that splits it can be painted matt black to disguise it or i suppose you could lop it out, but I don't know how much that'll weaken that part of the bonnet.

As for cutting up the grill and meshing it, It a hell of a lot easier on thing like a Nova that it will be for you, as they just have to deal with plastic and if they do screw up, just the grill needs replacing, not the whole bonnet.

You're not going to Scooby scoop it surely? If you are the thing you've got to watch out for is the supports under the bonnet, because you dont want to be cutting into them. This goes for any bonnet vent really. When you get one, make sure it's not one of the cheap plastic ones that expand and contract with the weather, coz they crack the paint where they join the metal. Anyways, i thought the scooby scoops went out a little while after three-spokes. Unless of course you mean the smaller meshed vents that sit either side. I like those :)

Pipercross kit is ok (I like the Viper) but don't expect anything major our of it. Apparently (just what I hear) the nissan airboxes aren't bad and a K&N replacment element (if they make one for your car) will give you as much performance as the pipercross gadget, but of course you won't get the noise.

Hope it Helps!
