That mis-coloring is neat. It looks like it cracked or was cracked from the beginning and it snapped because the rust go into it far enough and eventually the bar had to break because it was weakened.

I snapped and axle and it had the same sort of thing. A bunch of rust was inside one of the axles and it snapped because of all the wear and tear. It happens. Glad nothing serious happened. I have a 93.5 bar but it is the smallest and sort of pointless anyway.
