I have gotten sick of the stock cd player in my 96 G20 so I am looking for a new headunit. I found a nice JVC but does anyone have any other suggestions on a good looking headunit.

I have the PioneerDEH-P9400, whch is a black headunit. Looks great - and since I have black interior and a black dash, I didn't want to go with a deck that had an aluminum trim. If I had an aluminum trim on my dash, then I would have gone with a deck with a aluminum trim as well. I personally don't think you should go with a TV or DVD whatever.. I find those things pointless in a car, unless you are living in it :). I personally like Pioneer head units :).

What he said. Pioneers are great, reliable units.

If you do have the aluminum trim, go with the new DEH-P8400. Looks pretty slick IMO.

do you have their site?
Yup! www.rockfordfosgate.com

The new RFX9210 is really sweet...plays MP3s and everything. Just make sure you do some research on your headunit. There are many things you want to look at.

For example the voltage on the preouts for this unit is 5V. Which is very high and will give you clear sound. Other lower end units have 2.2V or even 1.5V...which is pretty crappy.

Fosgate units also do not distort. This means you turn up the volume to max and the signal from the preouts is still clear. Other lower end units will start to distort after about 70%ish up on the volume scale...thats why you get nasty sound at a high volume with those.

The one I have isn't officially out, that's why it's not listed on the website - but you can pretty much get it from any car audio specialist store. I got mine from Tint King here.

Btw G-Loads, that deck would look nice with your interior, especially your dash :).

i got a panasonic. its that brushed aluminum color and i was skeptical about how it would look but it looks good in my dash, even though its brown. its glows a nice blue at night too. costs like 250, puts out 4 volts for the preouts, and has only skipped once or twice in the almost year i had it. i would recommend it to anyone on a budget.

I have a Rockford Fosgate. It sounds good mostly I guess die to the high output. I am using stock Nissan ( Clarion ) speakers and it kicks middle of the road ass- very clear no distortion ..

Pioneer Dual Deck - DEH-P9400MP

Beginning of May, Pioneer is going to release its newest head unit! This one is a dual deck, yes two head faces!!! Saw a report on that and it looks so sexy!!! Cost is arount $1000.

Some UK folks might have heard of this one as I got the info out of a UK mag.

i just put in a clarion deck. it is nice. it has tv tuner controls dvd controls, cd changer controls, satelite radio controls(so you only need to buy the antena for it) a motorized flip down detachable face. front and rear pre outs, and sub preouts(rca) and aux input rca's, and input for the clarion indash dvd player. it's the shit. so if you do decide to go with video, you can use just the one remote control.
here is a link to pics of my car, and you can see the deck there

it has 128 times oversampling also so it will never skip.
