loud howling/rolling noise from rear.. wheel bearings?

The best way I can explain the sound is a muffled, rolling, howling noise that is coming from the rear. It happens when I accelerate past 25 mph and gets louder when I increase speed. I am leaning towards it being the wheel bearing but before I go and buy a set I am curious if anyone has encountered a similar issue. Thanks....

unless you have really crappy tires, it does sound like wheel bearings...

The only tires I had so far that sounded just like a bad wheel bearing is Kuhmo ASX after just 2000 miles (will never buy that POS tire again)
