There is a large circle ring that is holding the outer CV joint to the "stem" or center part. You can rent a tool (slidehammer) and have the joint removed rather easily on the car. It is a bit more of a PITA to remove the outer joint with a slide hammer when the joint is out of the car since you would have to hold the CV with equal force the slide hammer will need in order to depress that ring in enough to let the joint slide off the "stem". A two person job, and they should both be kinda strong if you want to use a slide hammer with the axle off the car. I have used the slide hammer on and off the car and I much prefer to use the slide hammer with the axle in the transmission.I didn't have any fluid in my garage at the time.
You can just pry it out of the transmission with a large flat head right?
Or is there a ring holding it in?
Still need to re do those axles, Krist?
