After a while of secrecy I can't keep these new developements quiet any longer. I am pleased to announce that my shop is in the process of fabricating some carbon fiber parts for the P10 G20. At my shop we have already done some work with carbon fiber and we are getting ready to produce some parts for the P10.
Here are some things we are already in the process of working on on my G20.......
trick carbon fiber subwoofer box in the spare tire well (almost complete)
Carbon fiber front splitter
New Carbon fiber door plliars
Fiberglass and carbon fiber rear deck
Interior Carbon fiber A-Pilliars
Full Carbon fiber Trunk Lid- Only around 18 lbs, this thing is insane (requires removal of inner tails and modification of trunk lock)
A Few Carbon Fiber engine dress up items
many more parts to come.....

I just wanted to wet everyones appetite for a while. We are trying to have the parts for my car done by the first of May. All parts will be clear coated for a nice shine. Once we have perfected them, I will begin to offer things on a made to order basis. I will post pics of some of the items soon. If you have something you want made, give me some ideas.

Clarification....

The rear deck (piece where the rear speakers are) is fiberglass and carbonfiber (it is more of a one off item)

You guys are actually going to make a fiber glass trunk. Shit!!! I need that man. These stock ones are tooooooo freaken heavy.
The trunk is full carbon fiber, no fiberglass. This trunk will actually pop up when you open it. The mold is being made over my trunk, so it will be flush all the way down. We will try to get a hold of a stock trunk lid and make a form out of that as well. I will have more details and specs soon.

nice nice id buy some CF stuff. so with this new trunk u getting rid of those vette lights?
The trunk will probably take longer than expected, because I want it perfect, and yes plans are in the works for some different tails. (the next ones will be from a nissan.....:cheeky: ) I will keep my current setup untill we can get a good carbon trunk done.

What about the center consoul area? It's already a really light piece, but would make for some nice 'show'. I think the speaker box in the spare idea is fucking awesome dawg.
Already done! The center console was just done about a month ago, all I did on that was a little resin, primer, and had it painted to match the car. It looks beautiful, it is already installed in the car. We also dyed the shifter and e-brake handle black. I had the armrest upolestered in black as well. Pics on this will be coming as soon as I can get them.

sub box details....

The full system is sponsored by polk/momo audio. The box is actually 3/4" MD fiberboard on the top sides (the rest is the tire well itself) and a carbon fiber mold on the top part and part of the sides. The subs face directly up. Really, it is a half box, the spare tire well itself serves as half of the box with our fabricated sides, front and back serving as the top part of the box. Everything will be sealed in place. The box is designed to sit about an inch or two above the trunk floor, so basically no trunk space will be used. There is no possible way to make the box 100 percent carbon fiber because it would not be strong enough to hold the subs.
BTW, the box will hold 2 12" Polk/Momo Generation 2 subs.

Some Updates

Well, the rear deck is done (where the rear speakers are) and it is at the shop getting clear coated today. I will try to have pics by the end of the week. We did the whole thing in carbon fiber and it looks insane.
Probably one of the first things we will try to produce in quantity will be the door pilliars. Most of the other stuff takes lots of time and work. We have ran into some problems on the rear decklid, but when we have a prototype done I will let you know. A word of caution, we are working on my trunk lid, which has already been heavily fabricated, and for anyone else to use it, some modification will be needed (read: eliminate inner tails and relocate license plate to lower bumper) When we are done with that, we will make a perfectly stock mold. I need to get ahold of some OEM parts for some of the items.

At the moment, the sub box is more of a one-off item, I don't know how that can be "universal" because different subs have different requirements. So depending on what a person wants they may just have to bring their car in and we will design it to their needs.

you should think about some CF on the winshield trim on the sides near where the door opens
Good idea. ;)

A Picture of the rear deck.....

Well, the rear deck is almost done. It just got back from the body shop where it was sprayed with three coats of clear. Everything follows the countour of the stock deck. We will be putting in the rear components on Friday (some minor cuts will have to be made) and hopefully will be installing it in the car on Friday.
Here are a couple of pics of the deck in the backseat of my Jeep.

What do you guys think? :cheeky:

Do you have a guess on $$$ and time? I would like CF door pillar pieces and the strips in front of the rear quarter window.
I'm not sure yet, but I will keep everyone posted. I hope to have the door pilliars done by the end of April and some availiable for sale in Mid to Late May. This is just a guess right now.

That picture was without theclear coat, right?
It has the clear on in those pics. No sanding has been done to it yet. Also, there isn't barely any resin on top of that carbon layer because I really wanted the carbon to stand out. The finish depends on how you want it, you could put layer upon layer of resin and sand between each layer to achieve a really high gloss. From my experience, the clear adds to the strength of the top layer and prevents the strands from seperating. Keep in mind I am not an expert yet and am still experimenting with different ways of forming the carbon fiber.

How much does the rear deck weigh
I think it is around 5 lbs w/o speakers.

Also is it made out of full carbon fiber or is it fiberglass with carbon fiber sticker on it.
It's 100% Real Carbon Fiber

Another question is the vinyl dye hard to use. Could I dye the vinyl part of my door panels?
It's not really hard to use, just use good quality dye. And yes, you should be able to do your door panels.

Trunk.......

Nothing new, the trunk is looking like it will take longer than expected. There are quite a few other things I need to finish up on the car before the end of April and that made the trunk project get behind schedule. :( I wanted to debut the first prototype on my car for the Carlisle show May 2-4 but I don't know if that will happen.
The door pilliars will hopefully be done in the next few weeks, I will try to have around 5 sets done to begin with and then more after that. No prices as of yet.......

It wouldn't make a difference in quality because it is going to be his. He isn't making it for you
I believe he was referring to the door pilliars. That is one item that I will try to have mutiple high quality copies ready for sale of, as for the other items, they will take some time.

P11 gear....come on!!
No plans of yet for p11 stuff :(, maybe sometime in the future

Another Update

The rear deck (where the speakers go) is finally done with the 6 1/2" component set installed. Pics should be up by the end of this week. We ran into problems with the sub box. Carbon fiber alone is not quite strong enough for them. We are now having a company fiberglass the well and fiberglass the opening and we will overlay carbon fiber over that. The door sills are still being worked on.

Some answers...

Full Carbon tips the scales at 18lbs isn't that more like insanely heavy for a full carbon peice (well unless it is 12k with a balsa core lam'd out 4 layers with a 150% resin to fabric). I currently have a hood for a non G20 that falls closer to the mark of 8.3lbs, with a rear boot that clocks 4.23lbs.
Your statement is a bit confusing. If your hood only weighs 8.3 lbs, it must not be stock. The carbon fiber I'm using is 5.7 oz. twill (.010" thick) The trunk has an estimated weight of 18 lbs. plus or minus 2-3 lbs. That is much lighter than the stock G20's overly heavy stock deck lid.

Last question why are you sanding carbon fiber?
I'm not sanding the carbon fiber, I'm sanding the epoxy resin that I put over the carbon fiber.

Anyways, I'll have updates in the future when I get some of these items done.

The hood is for the most part OEM and the core is nomex that is why it is light, and that is not an unheard of weight. A trained fabricator can do that no problem, and ones with all the toys can go way lighter. My girls hood will be in the sub 7lb range, with the use of an autoclave.
That could be so. That is super light, are you talking about a race car or a street car? The carbon fiber hood that has been produced for the p10 isn't even that light.

Yea just had my hood off and Radicals figures so far would be a big weight saver. Although I'm sure others may be able to make a lighter hood Radical seems to had a good reputation for quality products and not skimping, besides I've seen the ultra light weight hoods on integras and the finish and over durability didn't seem up to par.
Thanks for the kind words. I don't think I'm ready to tackle a hood as of yet. Anyways there is already a p10 c/f hood that has been produced and I hear that it's pretty good. You're right, I insist on a high quality product. I won't even offer any of this stuff untill the items are perfect and that are something that I personally would put on my car. Carbon fiber is somewhat new to me and I am constantly learning new tricks and different ways to do stuff. SaeWickSon, if you have any suggestions as to how to improve the process let me know.

I haven't forgot about this project. It's just that things are going a little slower than anticipated. The carbon fiber rear deck is fully done with the speakers in. The carbon fiber sub box is done with the subs installed. I haven't had a chance to get pics yet. I am still working on the pilliars (trying to get a few sets made) and the trunk lid, and some din-sized covers for the opening below the climate controls.

One deterement to the project was that I had some faulty resin that literally screwed up about 4-5 basically completed parts that I had to end up throwing away.:(

update

I wanted to thank everyone for their patience with these parts. We had a few stumbling blocks and some faulty products to contend with, but we are awaiting to recieve some materials on Friday or Monday that will help finish a few parts, when the first parts are done pictures will be posted.
Once again Thank You Guys and we hope to be done soon...;)

BTW: If anyone will be at Hot Import Nights in Chicago this weekend, the G20 Will Be there displaying some of the prototype carbon fiber parts.

What kind of interior parts??

I'll try to post some pics of the prototype parts soon. I have quite a few new prototype parts made (ex. we did the sides of the trunk) We had to order a new shipment of carbon fiber because we ran out of the old stock.

If you are looking for a carbon fiber overlay, i.e. molding carbon fiber to a stock part, we can do that as well. It doesn't save in weight but it doesn't really add much either. pm me with the part you want and you can send us the part and we will overlay it. (as long as the angles aren't too complex) On overlays we can typically do it in a two week turnaround time (slightly more time if you want it clear-coated)

We are also making parts for the 99-02 Mercury cougar (we have a project car we're using for that) and some WRX parts as well.

i'd like to see a double or triple a-pillar gauge holder....the dash pieces(around stereo and ac controls, and around vents).........maybe a real overlay for the factory gauges....i'll think of more..
dash pieces=probably doable
a-pilliars=doable
a-pilliar guage holders=not doable at this point, too many very tight angles to work with

trbobrk and nis.k.a i'll let you guys know when a stock-styled trunk is done.

Rad -

I'm definitely interested in exterior B-pillars for the doors and either a rear trunk lid, or an overlay sheet to go over the license plate/keyhole area.. something that will spread wide enough to tuck under the inner taillights of the P10.

Thanks, good luck with all your projects.
If I had a stock rear trunk I would be all over that overlay. That wouldn't be that hard to do.

I was at HIN in Chicago an let me tell you. If you got a P10. An you're into fixing it up a lil. You will want the rear carbonfiber deck Rad had on his P10 at the show. It was really really Nice.
So what the rest of his car. But the main thing that caught my eye was the 2 Vette lights molded in the trunk and the carbonfiber rear deck lid. An that paint is pretty G too! Props dawg.
Thanks for the props BlueEnya

Does your CF connect have the means to make that trunk section overlay? I've been thinking about doing it for some time.. but haven't researched CF companies to see who and how much it would be to make it...
We are our own connection (Tuned Perfection Autosports)..... :cheeky: Myself and a couple of others are responsible for all of the custom carbon fiber work so far. We have spent alot of time developing prototype parts and we have a couple of items that are nearing completion for limited production. Since we don't have a stock p10 trunk laying around, send us your trunk, and we can fabricate and put in that overlay for around $150 plus shipping.

more pictures...

We have more pictures of completed parts

1. The sub box ( a one-off custom item)
sub box

2. Carbon fiber trunk sides (inner side panels in trunk), you can see them a little in this pic, a better pic will come
trunk
For these, send us yours and we can overlay them and reshape them into a custom, smoother, shape as we did on mine (we eliminated the jack door on the pass side and smoother out the entire panel a bit) or whatever you prefer..

3. In our spare time we made a carbon fiber windshield washer cover, in the near future look for a complete carbon fiber engine dress-up kit availiable for purchase. :)
