Don't do the vape shit.... I know friends that have done that and have been "vaping" for almost a year or more now. Cold turkey or nothing IMO. They aren't cheap either.

I would rather vape the rest of my life than smoke cigs. No one knows if its bad for you but everyone knows cigs are. My friend vapes. Went from spending $9 a day to $10 every two weeks. He has about $100 invested in equipment. He is saving a ton of money.

The idea of cold turkey is great but you can't say cold turkey or nothing. Because the nothing is buying more cigs.

It's only a matter of time before they figure out that vaping causes more health issues than smoking. Just quit. It's not easy. It's not fun. You can do it though, you just have to put your mind to it and not smoke.

I don't think anything can cause more health issues than cigarettes. But I'm sure vaping isn't a "healthy" alternative. I have tried to quit a bunch of times. A few times I quit for 2+ years. I always seem to go back. Vaping intrigues me. Not for the health but the money savings, the choice of flavors, and it's a little geeky. I love tech stuff. I agree just not smoking at all is the best thing but at this point that is not happening. Maybe I don't want it enough yet. But switching up cigs for vaping I may be able to ditch it all one day.

The 28th of this month will be 1.5 years nicotine free!
I gained weight when I quit but good solid weight.
Went from 160 to 190 lbs in one year no smokeing. And I stay reletivly close.
I almost never get winded any more and I feel great. Was one of the best things I could have dedicated my self to.

I quit cold turkey and no vapes. I didn't want to replace my problem. I felt I needed to remove the problem
It sucked at first and was really hard but it all passes

cleaning vapes is a pain in the ass that I'd rather not deal with, along with making sure it's charged.
Haven't had to clean it yet so I can't speak on that. As far as charging I felt this would be a problem so I made sure to buy a battery with micro USB port and not some special charger. Reason being is you can't go anywhere where there isn't a micro USB. Always have one in the car, always one at the house, always one at work and businesses these days alot of times provide free chargers around here. Basically I'd have to try very hard to not have it charged or be able to charge it.

Congrats on still not smoking. I still enjoy smoking. If I don't vape I will still smoke. Sure quitting all together is better. No denying that but taking it half the nicotine and none of the other chemicals is a plus in my book. Not to mention the money savings.

Right now I'm yet to save money because my equipment was pricey but over a weekend in Vermont and a beer festival I would have sucked down two packs of smokes already and probably need to buy a third pack later today. So that is $24 I didn't spend on smokes so far.

My roomate uses a vape. He wants to smoke but doesn't want to kill him self he said.
I really just wanted to see if I could quit smokeing all together. I wanted to give it a really firm honest go at it. It a s difficult at first
I went threw nicotine withdraws and shit. But we'll worth it in the end

Not smokeing takes little to no effort on my part now just a desision to not try them at all ever again

still not smoking, though I had one a few weeks ago because my vape apparatus was dead. I burnt my lip LOL. I'm so mad I didn't start this sooner because the flavors are like a party in my mouth and I don't stink. Plus it's ridiculously cheap compared to cigs.

So anyone who is trying to quit and the patch, or gum isn't working I suggest you try this. There was no issue transitioning. But I stress to get a decent setup and not a cheap 7-11 cigalike e-cigarette.

Rob does the liquid you use have Nicotine in it? Are you slowly stepping down the amount, if so?

Yeah it has nicotine. It's 12mg right now. I haven't been doing it long enough to step down. I'm still on the first bottles of liquid from when I started. I will probably try 6mg soon.

From how I understand it you get less nicotine from vaping than from burning a cig and inhaling it. I use about 1ml of liquid a day at 12mg of nicotine. They say on average you absorb 40-60% through vaping. So that is about 7.2mg of nicotine a day I absorb on the high side. Each cigarette has 1.2mg of nicotine and I used to smoke about 10 a day. If you account some loss then it would probably be around 10mg of nicotine a day.

My point is I am already taking in less nicotine than smoking cigarettes and I think I will eventually be off the nicotine completely. But nicotine really isn't harmful. That is the least of the worry in a cigarette. The amount of caffeine I take in from coffee more than likely poses a greater threat to my health than the nicotine.

So still not smoking. I must say that I absolutely love vaping and I'm pretty pissed I didn't stop the cigs and start this years ago. Nothing beats sitting in my mancave with a beer, watching some football and sucking on some deliciously flavored e-liquid. No going outside and freezing, my house not smelling, me not smelling and few more bucks in my pocket.

Best part is I lost my favorite bottle of liquid and my vape pen was empty. I had another bottle of juice but I don't like it. I didn't even use it, I just went on with my day like nothing. I eventually found it and filled up to enjoy it's yummy goodness but the point is I didn't feel a need to use the other juice or run to the store to buy more. Also there were cigs around I could have smoked but didn't even think to grab one. My girl smokes socially so there is always cigarettes somewhere. She will buy a pack and it lasts a month.

Now back in my full blown smoker days if I was out I would sift through the ashtray for the biggest butt I could find or several smaller ones. If you were ever a smoker and have done this you know how nasty it is. Or I would drag my babies out in the cold to run to the store for another pack.

I will be stepping down the nicotine to 6mg in my next purchase. That is basically as low as you can get before 0. Can't beleive how easy it was to make the switch from the stinkies to vaping. So if anyone wants to quit but finds it hard, invest $50 into a battery and tank and give it a shot. If it doesn't work, worse case scenario you have something to backup too in a pinch so you don't have to dig through an old ashtray.

well it has been officially 1 year since smoking a cig. I had just one this time last year at a night out at the casino. I still vape and it's 0 or 3mg nicotine. Now for the bad news. I am up to about $150 a month on vaping. You need to buy coils and the juices I like are on the expensive side. This is opposed to $ 135 I would have spent a month smoking cigarettes.

So this vaping thing isn't any cheaper. I do like it better than smoking.

congrats Don! Keep up the good work! The ultimate goal is to be off of everything but no cigs and just some vape is a win in my book. You will smell better and everyone around you will appreciate it :D.

Awesome Don. Is it getting easier?

In my experience, I knew I was truly done once I stopped counting the days. I don't even know the date I quit... I think it was 06 or 07 sometime.
