Hmmm...wonder if my lil spat yesterday was the cause of this. I hope not! The last thing I want is to be a burden to the mods or anyone else.

Exactly, email is the place for it :)

It's kind of sad that [email protected] needs to state the obvious, so I really hope those that didnt know them already have now cemented these rules in their childish brains.

As for the swearing debate, I dont have too much of a problem with cursing but it really should be kept out of thread titles.

Here Here.
From what I gather after learking this site for months is that we all ban together under the flag of Primear G20. All else is bullsh$^.
We all ahve the same interest and you all, on the most part, are very informed and helpful people. Thanks.

To those whom want to whine go to www.forumosa.com a site for foriegners in Taiwan who just can't seem to adjust to the fact they live in Taiwan. ( I know: OT) just a site for an example of a good idea gone bad. Sorry to say: same seems to be with SE-R.com forum from what I read. Dare ask a question there?

So....You guys rock.!!!!!!!!!

Also no political talk in the OT forum, right?
Seems like if someone wanted to post something "political" (which in my mind is pretty much everything except for posts strictly dealing with taking apart and putting together G20's) on the Completely OT Forum, they should be free to do so, and those who wish to add to the discussion should, and those that don't like politics can go elsewhere. I mean, FTW, the price of gas is a political question, let alone the practical shooters thread.

The problem with political threads is that the majority dont know how to keep emotion out of the thread, hence the reason for mods having to come in because someone gets their feelings hurt.

Another problem is that most people feel that since they have an opinion they need to share it, which you & I both have learned with our life experience that that's just not the case. Many times I keep my opinion to myself simply because it will fall upon deaf ears.

If you really want to get people emotional, mess with their money!

Biggest problem in online forums is people representing opinions as facts. Like giving advice on specs or how-to's when they don't know. 2nd biggest problem is disrespect for other's opinions.

Dave just closed this OT thread due it being "political" after fewer than 10 posts, none of which were disrespectful or "emotional":

http://www.g20.net/forum/showthread.php?t=77537

Seems kind of arbitrary to me, seeing as how the last "political" post went on for 5 pages and is still active. So, just so I have the rules straight, the following apparently are not allowed on Gnet:

1. Any mention of the war in Iraq
2. Any mention of GWB or his cabinet
3. Any mention of current election campaigns
4. No talk about money as it relates to the government
5. Nothing about taxes
6. We should stay away from the price of gas, cause that is DEFINITELY political.
7. Any servicemen "in country" should take care not to talk about anything except for their G's (or maybe their girlfriends).

[email protected] should probably put these up with the first post on this thread, just to be consistent.

Gnet is losing some of it's color....

^although the above post had not gotten emotional yet, I think it was bound to be closed within a few hours anyway. A thread like that on an internet forum can get out of hands quickly, and it's up to the mods better judgement about when to close it.

As soon as I read the first post in that thread I knew that it was only a matter of time before it got closed down.

It's better that way, it's not like the mods are trying to demote freedom of speech or anything, it's all just part of how they keep the peace. Political threads on my local forum go on for months and people get irate and make threats to each other and so forth. Not a pretty site. Gnet's the mod's house. Their house, their rules.

It's called proper self regulation. That is why many of us CHOOSE to be here. We trade our time is exchange for a good forum. We all understand how to behave as adults forthemostpart.

Thank you GNET.

It may have not been political yet but we all know how it was gonna turn out.
Should I leave it go on until it turns into a fight then close it? Thats like saying let the guy speed until he crashes then ticket him. Nothing wrong with eliminating before it turns into a problem.

Furthermore any servicemen deserves much respect, I was one of them. I never said anything that would leave someone to believe I didnt support them but I guarantee that thread would have turned into someone talking about how we shouldnt be there and then it would go on & on.

Staff gets kudos when we add features, ban bad members, block spammers but god forbid we do something that someone could construe as censorship. Heavy is the head that wears the crown. :cheeky:
