ok for the good of the G20 family I've done some research on this.

First off as has already been discussed liquid metal polish is a good product to use to polish the lenses. I've personally had great results with Brasso.
there is even a company called metal armor polish that has a lense polish. hmm i wonder if they just figured out their metal polish worked on plastic?

there are also quite a few other products out there. here are some examples

also using a glaze helps to bring out the shine and fill in the imperfections left in the lense.

The main problem you have is that when you polish plastic you remove the UV protective coating. so the headlights haze quicker. you need to put on a UV plastic sealant.

That is really useful! Hey, does anybody know if I can wet sand my 97' M3 headlight lenses? I know they're plastic, but they have three of those stupid nubby things on em that stick out like a quarter inch. Do those things serve any sort of purpose? Could I sand them off until the lenses are perfectly flat without leaving wierd looking spots?
