Question regarding parting out G20

Hello everyone,

I have a 2000 G20t that was totalled in 2009. I fixed it up and drove it but it has taken a lot of beating since then. The final nail on the coffin was that the sunroof stuck half way and here in Seattle, that is a big problem. I even drove the car only in the summer for a couple of years but decided that it is not worth keeping the car anymore. I have a few questions regarding selling the car.

1. Since it has a totalled title, can it be sold at all?
2. I changed brakes not too long ago (cost me $1500+)
3. Tires are brand new

It seems like I can part out the car but I have no experience with removing components at all. Can I take it to a mechanic, ask him to remove useful components and pay me what it's worth? I have put in more than 2500 dollars in to the car but Can someone please advice on how I can recover at least some of the cost.

Thanks,
ramsee.

So it runs and drives, but your sunroof is stuck...?
To fix the sunroof is pretty easy. You would need replacement parts from the junkyard or a part out though. It could be as simple as the motor which is a 20 minute fix or the whole assembly can be replaced in a few hours if not less.

Yes, it runs.

The issue is not just the sunroof. The car took a hit and the driver side rear door took a hit and the door + body started rusting because the paint peeled off. The car shudders in lower gears and a mechanic told me that it could be a sign of transmission failure. The exhaust pipes are almost fully rusted through.

So, as much as I loved this car, I think it is time for me to let it go. I still kept the car going smoothly and replaced the entire brake assembly with OEM parts but I feel like the more I invest in it, the more issues I discover needing fixed :(.

I just hope I can sell the parts and recover some of the cost. If I sell it as is, I don't know how much I would get.
i hate to break it to you, but you wouldn't get much... interior ($200-400), engine ($400), wheels ($150), and whatever you can get for the bits and pieces. that depends on demand and doesn't factor in the time you will spend pulling the parts. you definitely won't recoop what you spent on the brakes. you would have been better buying used/remanned calipers and replacement rotors which would have run you less than $500 if you did it yourself.
shit i have a full brembo setup that only cost about 600 bucks. What kinda super brakes are these for 1500 bucks? You got took sir.
Doesnt the sunroof have a manual close option in case the sunroof gets stuck?

You wont get much at all parting out, unless you have some sought after parts or performance parts. How much are you willing to sell the car for as is? If it's reasonable, then just sell it that way
:( ... I was hoping to get about $1000 for the car. Its either that or I fix it up and drive it for eternity.
I might be interested in some parts... what color is the interior?
