Rev limit on 99+ ?

On the SER forum They say that Our rev limit as well as theres is 7000 and the P10 has a 7300-7500 that is better for a 98+ sr20 w/ 91 intake cam (Like I have) if you swap to a 95 ecu (like some one has) you get the higher redline and no speed limiter but a MIL

What's the question? (or is there one?) One of my friends in Phoenix (two actually) just swapped in a P10 ECU to his 200sx SE-R ('96, i think). It helped a lot, that extra couple hundred rpms made a big difference for him, but he also has full bolt ons (except pullies) and a primera/91 intake cam. As for ECU, i think you just have to find one that uses the same emissions setup as you (OBDI, OBDII, etc...)

I know the old G20's had a higher rev limiter but is that the same for the P11 or did they lower it? I know there is a guy on the ser forum that has a 99 SE with a 95 g20 computer but I don't know if I would benifit from that because I don't know what my rev limit its. It may be just as high as the p10 and it would be useless to change. I hit it the other day but I was looking at the tach I was looking at the Si that was beatung me. I believe they lowered it to 7000 like the sentra but I don't know.

hehe, no problem. Umm.. i'd just suggest next time when going onto the freeway just go slowly in a gear and see where your rev limiter hits, their's really nothing wrong with only part throttle all the way to redline, just don't stay there for too long. Maybe try it in second, first goes by pretty quick, second would give you enough time to see exactly where it hits, 3rd's too fast, that's almost around 100mph at redline. That's one way to find out, or any 99 P11 (5-spd) owner could chime in with their rev limiter.

Are you going by your tach redline or when the computer retarded your computer because it was over reving. I'm looking for the second one.

I was talking about when the computer retarted and stoped my engine from reving anymore. I was in second gear at the time. (if thats of any importance.

I was surprised because the manual says the engine redlines at 7200 RPM???

B15 ('00+) Sentras have spark cut at 6700 (or was it 6750?). You can't really go by what the tach on your dash says, though, because they're barely calibrated for accuracy and is nowhere near precise. Nissan does a pretty good job of making reasonably accurage gauges, but they're not perfect, and a 200 RPM dial variance at that kind of crank speed isn't hard to accept. I experience more than 200 RPM dial variance between operational periods; sometimes my ECU starts to cut at an indicated 6600 RPM and sometimes it indicates nearly seven grand before I hit the invisible wall.

Non-US Primeras with the roller SR20DE are said to go to 7200 RPM, as do S15 Silvias with similar heads. I'd be a much happier person with a few hundred extra RPM before redline, but that may not happen for me or you any time soon, at least until JWT does something about our ECUs. With better valve springs, I bet we could probably run all the way up to 7800 RPM like the other SR20 folks, but nobody seems to know if non-roller valvesprings fit in roller heads, and I'm not going to be the monkey that finds out that they don't first-hand.

I don't claim to be any good with English, but sheesh...

Another thing; it may be of interest to you that "'99+" is not what you're after. It looks like before and after 01/01, on both the Manual and Automatic car, the ECU part numbers changed, which indicate to me at least a map upgrade, if not something more severe. Yeah, that was a long sentence, sue me.

Thanks for the help. Mine is a 99 so the 01/01 change shouldn't apply. From what I heard that's probaby the new computers that have completely different plugs. the 99's accept the computer from the 97 se-r with a slight modification to the harness. JWT can reprogram those for my car but i'll get a check light. I've also seen a 99 sentra se w/ a 95 g20 computer (higher rev limiter and no speed govenor) and he said it plugged right in to his with no mods.
