Who showed up: 95G ATL (Brian), Mike.com (Mike, duh), and me (Fred).

What happened: Brian and Mike got some runs in (something about an RX-8 :lick: ) and I pulled a few passes against Mike. I didn't get a chance to run against Brian, but there's always next time.

My results:

1st pass: RT 0.978, 60ft 2.551, ET 11.028 @ 64.46mph.
Mike: RT 0.638, 60ft 2.839, ET 11.924 @ 59.21mph.

2nd pass: RT 0.774, 60ft 3.716, ET 11.122 @ 64.56mph.
Mike: RT 0.988, 60ft 2.567, ET n/a @ n/a mph.

last pass: RT 0.886, 60ft 2.184, ET 10.647 @ 64.93mph.
some Civic :evil:: RT 0.764, 60ft 2.532, ET 9.692 @ 74.13mph.

Mike had a knocking sound all through the night, but on my second pass against him, it got really really bad and it was probably best he left the track (okay actually the announcer told him to get off the track :nervous: )

His car was leaking mad oil while we were all talking in the parking lot :surprised . I hope your car will be alright Mike. The loyal G has held up this long... (I can't count my two wins against him)

Yeah about that last pass. Damn I hate Civics like this one. It was a little red EG hatch, no exhuast, no spoiler, no rice-ness about it at all, unless you count the Skunk2 licenseplate frame. No big tach, no nothing ~ and then boom, he pulls a 9.6 1/8 mile :paranoid: I felt bad about losing to a Civic, but hey I guess I got a decent time for myself... :nervous:

Next RaceLegal ~ January 30th. I'll probably go just to watch. Mike, Brian? ;)

Yes, the new RX8 kicked my butt by 0.6 second...darn!

ya, that was pretty bad. the annoucer was not happy about the knocking sound.........

yup, there was alot of oil leaking....something like the EXXON VALDIZ. (for the young folks that don't remember, back in 1989 some idiot captian crashed a oil tanker in Alaska and leaked a sh*tload of oil in the ocean.)

More than likely I'll be there -only to spectate, though...the 23rd was my G's first ever "track race" and she did good. Only lost to that damn RX8...well, 250 hp and a 6 spd tranny -that's competition for a DET ;)

You know, if I find out this whole thing was just being caused by the oil pump...I'M GONNA HAVE TO GIVE THAT ANNOUNCER A PIECE OF MY MIND! I mean sure, I shouldn't have continued racing when there was obviously something wrong with the car. But when he stopped me affter the last run, he gave me the most condescending look while telling me what he thought was wrong with my car. "Do you not hear that rod knock your car has!?!" The he goes off and talks about how it sounds like I was washing rocks inside of my car.

Hi remember me? Yeah, I was the one you were shouting at with rod knock last time. Guess what...I fixed my car and it was a bad oil pump bearing. Uh huh, yeah NEXT TIME WHY DON'T YOU JUST KEEP YOUR PSUEDO MECHANIC COMMENTS TO YOURSELF. Just what kind of mechanic experience do you have!?! Oh really, thats not bad, that's a lot of experience...BUT GUESS WHAT YOU WERE STILL FU*KING WRONG! A HIGH SCHOOL AUTO SHOP BOOK KNOWS MORE ABOUT ROD KNOCK THAN YOU SO JUST LAY OFF YOUR SNIDE REMARKS AND KEEP YOUR DAY JOB ALRIGHT!!

Thanks for the support fellas! I'm just taking things slowly so I can manage. I'm keeping updates on the "Shared Lowport Engines" thread in the Engine section. I'm going to take pics but please feel free to come by if you'd like to hang out and check out what a bottom half dismantled SR20DE block ooks like. I said in the other thread...for better or for worse, this has been a very educational experience and I learned A LOT MORE about the engine and piston engines in the last two days than I ever knew. Haha, and I considered myself quite knowledgeable before...:nervous:

You know what really sucks? I'll know what's wrong but the engine won't be fixed and I gotta put all this shit back together before school starts next week. *SigH*

Hey Brian, didn't you need to change your mounts? In the course of my work I removed the crossmember and 3 of the mounts. Changing mounts is a cinch. The front mount is quick. Belts are really easy also.

May take you up on the offer to check out the engine sometime this week after work.

If you find out the engine has something fatal, we can always get a sr20 block and slap her in there. Probably need an engine hoist, since that engine at the junk yard was pretty darn heavy. ;)

Yeah shoot...if I had an actual garage to work in I'd totally do the engine swap at home!! Unfortunately the garage here is full of junk and I'm working in the driveway. Not enough space and it's not level. If I ever get a chance to clear out the garage then it's on!! Grab some beers and an engine hoist! :p Hell I'll grab a Bluebird DET while I'm at it. Sorry Fred I'm a turbo man but I'm sure we'd all have fun working on that swap. ;)

Gone in 60 Seconds:... "and this is Fred, and he's good at uh... getting pizzas." (!!!) ay, people gotta eat right?
