i have a can now too haha, its for the p10 though which will be here thursday. where exactly does the brake booster line go? where is for one, and where does it take my seafoam?
also, so half there and half in the gas tank?

So I bought a can of seafoam this weekend. i haven not used it yet. I'm thinking of using a little as a fuel additive.

Can I use this while I flush the motor oil, like pour it at the same time, and it let idle for a little bit, and put in the new motor oil?
Yup you got the idea, pour half the can into the gas tank, and the other half in the crank case, let the car idle for 10 minutes or so and then change the oil and filter as usual.

The brake booster hose is in yellow.

^^nice, the yellow hose matches your yellow top...:p:p:p

I did this last thursday night (11-15-07) my p10t is running fine, no more hesitation but the hesitation started back up today :headshake should I do the seafoam thru break booster cable again, y/n...:zoinks:

well, im doing the seafoam challenge again, but this time instead of putting rest/left over seafoam in gas tank, im adding it to the crankcase, then aftewards Mobil1 oil change, soo lets see how it works out, hopefully better than last time...

I for see broken rings in peoples' futures... Just to be the voice of doom. No one's thought blow-by (after carbon is removed) about their gas mileage dropping dramatically? I dunno, I think I'll stick to revving the engine every once in a while, and acetone when I have it apart for a rebuild, when I get around to installing all those nice Cosworth bits, then letting it dry thoroughly...

HHMM, Dave did say he lost some mileage also after doing this.:paranoid:

Ok, so back when i worked for Schmucks, a remember that few old guys were talking about that great product Seafome. I:knockout:
It worked hella good on 4 or 2 barrel carburators, they would get dirty you know back in a days.:dead:
But i absolutely remember few people saying that its not good for rings.

They say seafom looses all incredable gunk crap from intake, and its nasty dirty, with kerosin of some crazy kind that burns, and dillutes fokin gunk at once:zoinks:, so then all this crap folowing down the throat into chamber, blows up in terrible half unburned emission:dead::confused: through cat converter stressing out his cells, gunks up oxygen sensor:alien:, and smokes your neghboards in not healthy smoke.:smoke:
So thenis all unburned crap will eats up into rings and crap up oil take off rings and but it will clean up compression ring, so you will be half ok, at least for now. :square:
I think the were smoking crack, and we should not listen tho them:bandit:

But maybe everyone who think trouble after seafom should consider compression? check. :naughty:

I'm thinking of Seafoaming, but it seems sort of risky... What should I watch out for?
Also, I've read that if carbon is holding up a leak in the cylinders, I'm pretty much screwed. Is there anyway to predict this before I seafoam? My car is a 99 with 131k, and it runs perfectly. I'm just interested in improving response and gas mileage.
Where exactly is the brake booster on the P11? I think I found it on the left side of the brake fluid reservoir...
Excuse my n00bness, I'm 17 and looking to learn :)

^^thats one way you can add the seafoam, or look at post #62

in a 99 P11, it shoul be.

if you look at the pic in post 62, GreenG20t points out the brake booster cable in yellow.

Or you can do it like you mentioned in your previous post, thats how I added it seeing since my p10t has a Cusco strut bar & its in the way of accessing the booster cable like GreenG20t mentioned.

I'll chime on this and say that this last time I used, my mileage has gone down pretty bad. My first bad experience with it. I went ahead and got new plugs, wires, fuel filter to see if it would get any better, but nothing.

I'm going to try changing my oil out soon and see if that may help. Although I only put about 1/3 of the can in the crankcase.

Is it in the same location on the P11?
I thought it should be closer to the driver's side...

edit: Is it around where I've highlighted in red? (credit to Ugly's P11 ;) )

Do you have a Lowport or a RollerRocker, coz it your P11 is a 99 then it should be lowport, check out the pic I posted, that should give ya a Idea from where to put the Seafoam in...

I'm one of those people who religiously changes off between fuel system cleaner and injection cleaner every 8 weeks so it gets one of each every 16 weeks - no codes on the O2 sensors at 140,000. Still I should change them. I guess I would probably, even so, take them out and the cat off if I were going to do it. At the very least. And maybe run a compression check before hand to make sure I wasn't going to hole a piston or get a lot of blow-by. And maybe take a flashlight and see what the carbon build up actually looked like down in the chambers. But what do I know? It's your car, do what you want with it. Like I said; just being a buzzkill. I've heard stranger stories: baking soda in the intake to get bad glazing off liners, etc...

If you run the seafoam through the fuel tank... Change your filter immediatly after tank if empty. That will suprise you, as you know what color the gas was when you put it in your tank. Besides, it's getting cold, and if your lowport is like mine and you don't change it, you will be let down some frosty morning when you try to start it.
