Does a G20 have a governor?

Hi,

I have a basic fully loaded G20, 1993. I've been driving it around for a while now and one day I decided to see how fast it can go. It peaked at 180 km/h but I felt like as if that wasn't it's full ability. To make things short, Is there a governor on a 1993 G20? If so, how can I disable it or bypass it?

Thanks

Sebastian

It doesn't have a governor/speed limiter. It has a rev limiter which when reached will simply cut off the fuel and drop the rpm's abruptly. I was told that kinda feels like having the car stall at very high speeds.
Not that I care to test it personally.....:paranoid:

Hmmm, that converts to about 111 mph? Seems like it wasn't at it's full ability. ;)

I don't believe the US versions have govenors on them.

well i'm going to get flamed on the forum, but i'll guarentee you my 94 P10 does not have a gorvernor and i doubt your G does either, since i've gone at speeds in excess of 130mph in my car on empty highways late at night, and if there were a governor in it when it came out of the FACTORY, i guarentee i would have hit it :)

but there is a rev limiter at around 7500rpm's...
and the previous poster was pretty accurate when they say it feels like stalling at high speeds.

Yeah I know - slow down.... (please don't close this thread)
Them roads 'en Atlanta are mighty fun, ain't they.... ;)

If I recall Interstate 85 didn't have a speed limit....hehehe ---or--- was it the minimum speed was 90 mph. I don't remember.

Yeah it feels like getting socked in the stomach, especially if your not expecting it. I didn't think that i was at red line and then, it felt like someone put the brakes on. when i had the gsr and a crane ignition system, that soft rev limiter totally spoils u.

Hi,

I guess that I'm going to have to find a longer road and try to get it to go faster.

G20 Skyline: My car is a manual.

Thanks for the help

Well, you can start by getting an OBX header and then some JWT S3/S4 cams, that should get you going in the right direction(the Engine FAQ has a lot more for you to look at....)
Also, I'm sure that there's a local track in your area should you ever feel the need to find out the G20's top speed.......;)
