Vibration in Park, Reverse, not in Drive

I have a 99 P11 and it vibrates terribly in Park and in Reverse. But when I put it into Drive it almost goes away.

I just changed the spark plugs hoping it was a misfire but no change, Plug wires are good.

Any ideas?

Just bought the car...I think its the engine or transmission mount as I have read other threads that say this is the case if there is vibration in P, R, but not D. They question would be what mount and how hard is it to replace.

Its an automatic and I have to replace the radiator core support and likely the crossmember which I think has 2 mounts.

Anyone have any experience replacing all of this?

if your taking the cross member off it's pretty straight foreward. iirc there is a long bolt that runs through both the front and back motor mounts. you'll need to undo these to disconnect the mount on the cross member from the bracket on the engine. then you press out the old mount, and press a new one in, then put it back together.

feel free to correct me on this if i made a mistake.

Sorry I don't have the answer for you but I may be able to help you narrow down the possible fixes for you. I have the same issue though it doesn't quite sound as bad as yours. I've had all the motor mounts replaced in the last few years and the tranny fuild replaced.

My money is on the tranny mount.

the mounts are basically a metal ring with a rubber/poly insert that has a bolt running through the rubber insert. if the rubber is cracked or the bolt hole is torn larger than it should be you will know that is the problem. you probably wont be able to see the tranny mount from below the car, and there are a ton of wires and intake tubing above it from the top. you may have to pull out your intake airbox and some tubing to get a good look at it.
