How hard is it to replace the antenna?

My power antenna most likely needs a new motor (it screams). How hard is it to replace the assembly? Could I trust a good independent shop to do it right or should I take it to the dealer since it's an electrical part? Or is it so easy I could do it myself?

If you are replacing the whole assembly it's a piece of cake.If you are replacing antenna mast or motor only it's a bit more time consuming because you have to take assembly apart. But in any case no special skills or tools required.
Start from the outside and remove that plastic cone that guides the must by carefully turning a top piece of plastic counterclockwise, try not to scratch it.remove the giude.
Pop the trunk, remove the jack.Disconnect antenna harness and PVC tubing.Remove 2 screws holding the assembly and slowly pull the whole thing slightly down then out .

hmm, I may need to do this too, since mine is always up- and I don't even get a sound of the motor trying to move itself, not that big of a deal or anything, but it would still be nice to audjust. How much and where could I get the entire assembly for? Since it seems easy to do-it-yourself it would be a nice fix.

Antenna makes noise but doesn't pop up

Hi

As you can tell, I have recently 'acquired' a 94 G20....and amongst the minor things wrong with it are the antenna. Everytime I press the radio button to switch it on, I hear this noise (sounds like the antenna going up) but the antenna doesn't go up. The radio works fine though, but I would love to have everything working on this baby of mine.

Any ideas on what to do and where to get it done from? I saw someone post here who was from MA ? Can I get to know where they get there G20 work done from?

Thanks!!!! :)

Replaced a broken unit on my 95 with one from a 93 1/2, just swapped out the whole assy. First it made an unpleasant clicking noise which would not stop at the end of the down cycle, them I pulled the plug, cycled it, and it was fine going down, now it makes the noise at full extension of the up cycle and does not stop. I tried swapping out parts of the assy, the timer (same part #) and assy with the good mast from the '93, still clicks. Nothing helpful I can see in the FSM, searched G20.net, etc. Anybody know how to synchronise this?? All I can think of is maybe they changed the length of the nylon cable in later yr. P-10's. Part numbers on the motor assy are different, but they look identical.
