So I've been around for a little while, and I think it's time that I put together a little progress thread. It's nothing to spectacular right now, but I still love her.
Back when I was a junior in high school I was looking for my first car. I was not into cars at all, and I didn't really care what I got. Then I came across an ad for 2001 Infiniti G20. It looked pretty cool from the picture so we went to go check it out. I fell in love. It was a dark silver and wood grain on the dash with black leather seats. The test drive was a little funny, some rattling in back, so we passed on it. But after that I was set on finding myself a g20. The search continued on. As the driving test grew closer, the search intensified, and eventually me and my mom went out to Paterson, NJ to check out a 99 g20 with 104,xxx on the clock, auto transmission. Neither of us knew anything about cars but we ended up settling on this brown car with a few dents and scratches. Hey, it was my first car, it was no big deal right? And then I found g20.net...
I didn't take many pictures when I first got it, but I'll show the progression the best I can. Forgive my shitty pictures, I just have cell phone pics .

The first thing I did was refresh the suspenson. At a garage. And my family and I knew nothing about cars, and we paid a little too much for a stock suspension refresh.
Drove it around like this for a few months, and then my ricer friend got to me...
Painted the wheels black with a silver lip, painted the grill black, debadged everything but "G20" on the trunk, and spray tinted every light on the car :zoinks:
a few more pics to come when I find them.
Next step was was ebay headers (2 inch) and cai, which was a giant piece of crap, and the A/T Relay mod.
Then I turned to audio. Kenwood deck, 2 10" Kenwood subs, and a kenwood amp pushing 500rms ar 2 ohms.
Somewhere along the lines I managed to destroy two finder liners. I dont know how but it happed.
I drove it around like this for my high school career, and during winter break of my freshman year of college, I ghetto rigged an "exhaust" with a Thrush Turbo muffler. I dont know what I was thinking.
And then got wise the summer of my freshman year.
I took off the tint off of all the lights, repaired the stock exhaust, and then starting doing slightly less tacky mods.
I reduced the cai to a wai with a spectre filter.
Installed a 91 intake cam and with the VC off, I painted my valve cover gold and sanded the letters:
another pic to come. my phone sucks.
Unfortunately some of the paint bubbled and it now looks like shit
.
My flexpipe blew out so I got 2.5 in headers.
I then got a 2.25 inch catback exhaust with 18 inch Magnaflow resonator, and used the Thrush muffler :shifty:. That absolutely needs to be replaced.
I then pieced together a grounding kit and installed that.
Finally, I meshed my stock grill
Primered. Don't worry, I painted it, but I didnt take any finished pictures.
Then back to school.
Over fall break I lowered the car:
Intrax Springs, GR-2 Shocks, OEM bushings, DMSentra top mounts front and rear.
Today I deleted my EGR which was leaking terribly and I think I'm back in love
.
