i only get 340 .. wtf ...am i doing something wrong?

One thing I do and have done with all my cars is that I ve run the tank all the way to almost empty, and the light is on and all. Thats why I was able to stuff about 16 gallons into my tank!

I ve heard that its not good to run the tank all the way down to almost nothing, but in my experience, I ve never had anything go wrong in doing that. I like to know the limits of the gas guage and the tank.

 

its not a good idea to run your tank completely empty. you're not getting any better or worse gas mileage by filling up before the light comes on so whats the point? your fuel pump relys on gas to keep it lubricated so if its constantly being deprived of extra gas for lube it will in fact shorten the lifespan of the pump.

508 miles from San Francisco to San Diego on 14 gallons. I often give up mpg for mph, though...

Beat my old record in the last few days. 611.2 miles with 15.409 gallons for 39.6651 mpg. Basically San Francisco to San Diego to Los Angeles.

 

From Spokane to Seattle (286 miles) on 2/3rd tank of gas.
19* timing, intake & exaust. Not too shabby.

 

I recently just put on the I/H/E so I'll need to recalculate the total.

Being that I only drive the P11 to work & home (7 mile radius) and I currently have 3/4 or so gas, it may take me a couple weeks before I fill'er up! :smile:

 

isn't also bad to take the tank to empty because all the dirt and particles from the gas settle there...so the lower u go in the tank, the more dirty gas u put into ur engine?

 

I get 450+ miles out of 16 gallons in my I30 doing highway driving.

 

26 mpg is what i get..i am getting 340-350 miles when the light turn on

 

450 is what I average. I got 502 once.

550km = 341.75 miles

Lately ive been running with AC 100% of the time and Ive been getting 375

 

You should be talking about how many miles per gallons you get, not how many miles on a tankful. With 95% city driving on the boosted P11, I get about 27mpg.

 

I basically drive to work and back and get 420 miles on racing fuel.

 

I always get at least 32 mpg. usually around 33 though. Its the same trip every day, 120 km to work, 120 back...mostly township roads/highway. And I only use Esso gas.

 

A recent road trip to Long Beach and back netted ~30 mpg.

30 mi/gal x 15.9 gal = 477 miles per tank.

 

recently hit 450 miles on a tank and it only took 13 gallons to refill! That's a whopping 34.6 miles per gallon! Not bad on a turbo p11! That's my record MPG by the way.

 

Got 495 yesterday, it just keeps getting better and better! can't wait for the LA trip!

 

I thought it would be opposite, but I get about 32 mpg when I'm averaging 80mph, but only about 30 when I slow down to 70 mpg on the interstate. It drops off sharply however if I drive at a constant 85-90mph though to about 29mpg. I guess that 78-80 is the sweet spot for my car.

 

In the city freakishly about 45 is the sweet spot due to gearing. FYI

 

that makes no sense that if you go 80 you would get better mpg that at 70mph. the higher the rpm should not = to better mpg.

When I get close to 500 miles per tank, I am very conservative on the gas pedal.

 

I'm at about 17 degrees and get about 500 miles when I'm driving highway miles. Much lower when I'm cruising around town 320 all the way down to 260. But I have a manual and drive it hard. The car does prefer to run lean though.

 

I drive free way most of the way I get 410 a tank
